Blooming with Kindness Inside Out

Here's an inside out card for the Technique Challenge at SCS this week.

 External Frame/Internal Greeting

Today's challenge is to create a frame on the outside opening of your design, and to have the actual sentiment and main image on the inside.

It uses the colors of the Color Challenge at SCS.  The butterfly really is Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.  I don't know why it's showing up orange here.

The window and frame were cut with the Window Frames Collection Framelits.

Card Recipe

Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness, Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired)

Ink:  Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Tuxedo Black (Memento), SU Markers (Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Basic Black)

Paper:  Whisper White

Other:  Big Shot, Window Frames Collection Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Bitty Butterfly Punch, White Gel Pen.

I cut the window in the base card and front panel with the Window Framelit then cut a frame from a scrap piece using the same framelit and the next larger one.

Then I lightly traced the shape on the inside with a pencil.  Using this as a guide, I stamped the flower and sentiment and when the ink was dry, I erased the pencil marks.

The butterfly was stamped with Tuxedo Black (Memento) and colored with markers. Then I smacked it with the VersaMark pad and clear embossed it before punching it out. It's adhered with a glue dot under the body so the wings can be pulled up.  The antenna is drawn with the black marker.

I nearly scrapped this project as the first 2 times I went to stamp the image, it fell off the block onto the card.  I was able to fix that by applying 2-Way Glue to the top of the stamp and letting it dry.  It stays put very well on the block now. 

I was able to salvage one of the mishaps.  I'll share that with you later.

Punching with Watercolor and Washi

I was looking for something to punch a bird out of and thought of the Watercolor Splotch paper in my UFO box.  What do you think?

This is a shameless CASE of this card by Harriet Skelly!  She's the alumnus that the CAS challenge at SCS is honoring this week.

It took longer to choose a piece of watercoloring than it did to make the card.

Using the watercolored paper for my bird was inspired by my friends Loll Thompson and Nancy Littrell.  Both of these ladies are so talented and constantly inspire and encourage me!

Washi tape is so much fun! It goes down and comes up and goes down again. And I love how these 3 patterns go so well together!

Thoughts and Prayers Tag for Joyce

I've been busy the past few days but got behind on the pictures.  There's just not enough hours in the day! 

I've never done much with tags.  I bought some a while back at a swap meet and loved using them. But I'd never made them much on my own.  But when I saw this card by the Featured Stamper this week, Joyce (aka ashjoy), I decided to give one a try.  This is what I came up with....

CAS on Sunday challeng is "Tag"it!  right now.  I hope this is CAS enough for them.

Paper Players has a color challenge this week.

I rarely get to play with them so I'm excited to get this in.  And it's the first time I've used these new In Colors.  Gotta say that I love them.

Edited to add:  The flowers were punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch.  I wadded them up then unfolded them.  I used my thumbnail to separate the flower into 2 layers.  I press them into my Stampin' Pierce mat with a stylus to cup the flowers.  A little drop of glue holds the 2 layers together and a tiny pearl from the Basic Pearls goes in the center.

Spring Garden for Queen Marie

The Queen for the Day challenges at SCS continue to honor past queens.  This week we're to revisit a past queen whose name begins with M-O.  There are so many inspiring artists in the lists that it's really difficult to choose just one.  

Wish I had time to honor them all.

Since I can't do that, I chose one of my SCS friends, Marie (aka Momof5sons).  Not only is Marie a wonderful inspiration with her card but she is so encouraging with her comments.

So this is for Queen Marie inspired by this card.

The image was one of the many UFOs in my box.  I pulled out all the UFOs from this set and the Heartfelt Thanks set for my Papercrafting group to use last week.  I didn't get pictures of all the cards that they made,  but here's a few.

After they made 24 cards, there were still a lot of images left.  I was determined not to put them back in the UFO box.

I went on an OCD rampage.....

I completed 25 more cards and 1 tag.  Whew!  

I had already pulled cardstock and embellishments to go with the images.  That made it pretty easy to get them all together quickly.

Guess what my customers will be getting in their packages this month?

You may wonder why in the world I had so many images from this set.  I wondered the same thing!  I remember having borrowed this set about the time I had my gall bladder out.  I spent an afternoon, day or two, just stamping all these images in different colors.  Just for fun.

That was 5 years ago.

It was time to use them up!
