Happy Sunflower and a Visit from a Friend

Hello friends.  It's the start of another week.  I hope you had a good weekend!

I had a very special weekend.  More about that later.

First, a card....

I seldom do a one layer card anymore but
The Flower Challenge this month is

My friends at Unity Stamps had a special stamp offered to their
customers and subscribers.  I jumped on it and love this stamp!

I put it in my MISTI and stamped onto a card cut from
Strathmore 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper.

I inked the stamp with a  yellow Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker
and then tapped a damp water brush to the stamped image.

Stamping again added back the lines of the petals.

I did the stems the same way with an Olive Green Zig.

I pulled some of the color around for a light wash around the flower,
then stamped the sentiment.

The first time I did that, I smeared the sentiment.

I hate when I do that!

I was able to salvage some of the design and you'll see that in a later post.

Our CAS Watercolour Challenge this month is Sunflowers,
so I'll add this over there too.

As for the special weekend, my friend Mary H. from Carolina Cards by Mary H.
came for a visit with her DH.

She joined in with my stamping class and we had a wonderful time visiting
except our time was too short.

I hope she and her DH will come back soon! My DH does too.

The Flower Challenge:  One Layer Card
CAS Watercolour: Sunflower

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Such a sweet card, Bonnie. And I love the sentiment that you've used ... since I used sentiments from that same stamp set for the set of Sunfower cards that I created for the CAS watercolour challenge. Hopefully, they will make their way to my blog tomorrow.

Love the one layer card -- different look. And always love the result of this water coloring technique that you have perfected. I appreciate that you take the time to supply the deets on how you achieve a look. Plus I appreciate your confessions of boo boos...makes me feel better about mine...smiles.

Beautiful OLC, Bonnie! I do hate it when I mess up the sentiment too! Amazing MISTI watercolor stamping once again. I swear I will give this a try one day. 😉

I'm no good at one layer cards so I always admire them made by others. Yours is lovely - such a softly watercoloured sunflower. Great embellishment with the twine - and it fits perfectly with the squiggly sentiment!

Your Zig watercolored sunflower is so pretty, Bonnie! You are great at this technique. Stamping again after watercoloring gave definition. I should remember that.
Sounds like you had a fun weekend with Mary and her husband! Thank you for sharing the picture of two beautiful ladies! :-) Hideko xx

It's gorgeous! While the photo is wonderful, I will say, it's even better IRL. We had such a great time, and just wish we'd had even more time. Thanks for showing me some tricks with the faux enamel and encrusted techniques. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and had fun with the lovely ladies in your group. They are so fortunate to be able to have classes with you and I wish I could too! TFS & Hugs

Such a beautiful watercolor and I love the delicate bleeding of paint on the background. Stunning card. The addition of a string beautifully complements the card.
