Leaf Frame for Twofer

Hello my friends.  Welcome.

First and foremost, I want to thank you all for your positive thoughts
and prayers through the last week as Florence wreaked havoc on our state.

We are fine and had no damage.

Many others are not as blessed.

Please keep them in your prayers and help where you can.

Now, it's Twofer Time!

A very special friend sent me this leaf frame die recently.
Wasn't that perfect timing?

My first thought was to die cut it from watercolor paper and color it in fall colors.

Another dear friend had brought this pumpkin die when she came to play.

I had die cut it from watercolor paper too.

I used re-inkers and a water brush to color everything.

For my Twofer....

It occurred to me that this frame would make a good Christmas card too.

So I found a piece of alcohol inked photo paper in my stash
and cut the frame from that.

The sentiment is an old Stampin Up stamp.  I stamped it in
Encore Gold and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I also dipped the sentiment piece in the gold ink and
heat embossed the edges.

And I remembered why I bought those Autumn Red Nuvo Chrystal Drops.
They make perfect berries.

I also found out that if you put a stack of books over the finished card,
even though the "berries" are dry, they get squished!

A little more Nuvo on top of the squished berries plumped them right up again.

So I've used this die for a Thanksgiving card and a Christmas card.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the tip about stacking of the books and the nuvo drops. Great use of the fabulous frame leaf die cut for the two very different occasions. What great friends you have to send you the two dies. Wonderful cards, both of them. Glad you and the family have weathered the storm and are safe x

Lovely twofers, Bonnie. That frame is beautiful. You watercoloured the first wonderfully. You’re right... it does make a great Christmas card too. Love the vibrant AI for it. xx

Two terrific seasonal cards! Love that die frame and pumpkin and how you colored them. With a good stash of red or green backgrounds from inks or powders and this or another overall die, making Christmas cards could get done a lot faster!!

This leafy frame is pretty and versatile. Aren't crafting friends the best??!! Love the sweet pumpkin sitting inside the frame ... very sweet Thanksgiving card. Your Christmas card is so pretty with the deep green AIs and those sweet red berries. Good save on adding more drops to plump up the berries, Bonnie! Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge! xx

Hi Bonnie : ) Thank you for the sweet comments you have left on my blog! I am a slow poke when it comes to commenting of late but now that we are getting settled I hope to do better : )

You always make the most happy looking cards, Bonnie and these are no exception. The colors are vibrant and love your designs. I give you credit for coloring after you die cut too. I'm way too lazy to do that! Beautiful cards.

I did enjoy, Bon-Bon! What an awesome leaf border that is! It is stunning as both an autumn card and a Christmas card! (I'll bet you are thinking about how you can use it for other holidays!) Your seasonal touches and fabulous coloring are perfect! I chuckled at your "flattened berries" realization because the truth is, even if they are dried for a very long time, they arrive flattened in the mail! Yes, it's true, unless you pay extra to hand-cancel the envelope. Once they send that mail through the rollers of the cancelling machine, our pretty drops don't stand a chance! Can't you just hear them crying out from post offices all over the world? Haha, okay, now I'm just getting carried away! Thank you, as always, for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #9! I'm so glad you weren't damaged in the storm and I'm still keeping those less fortunate in my prayers. Hugs, Darnell

Beautiful holiday twofers, Bonnie! The watercolored leafy frame is so pretty. The pumpkin fits just right inside the window.
You're so cleaver to add the red berries and make the same frame look Christmasy! Looking forward to seeing a spring/summer version! :-)

Oh Bonnie, I had to smile about the squashed berries - just as well they were not juicy and 'squished' everywhere... the mind boggles thinking about it.
Your cards are amazing as ever - love your use of the frame on the two cards.
Blessings

Two beautiful cards using this leaf cover die Bonnie, and looks great with the prettily coloured pumpkin die, and then for Christmas with the lovely red Nuvo drop berries and the wonderful gold sentiment. So pleased you did not have any damage, but very sorry for those that were affected by this terrible storm. x

Wow, two very different themes for the same die frame. Brilliant approach.
Love the red berries and extra interior leaves on the Christmas one.
Simply BEAUTIFUL xx

So glad to hear you're safe from the storm. I can't imagine what that must be like... Very sweet cards too, Bonnie. That Fall card has such rich orange colors, and I do love that little pumpkin. Perfect sentiment, as well. And your Christmas card is really lovely, and squished or puffy, those berries really finish those leaves off in such a festive way! Thank you so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. Bev

Great cards. I love the fire of the autumn card and the calmness of the winter card. So different, and yet have common elements.

Wow! Both of these cards are stunning Bonnie! I am really loving the leave die, so pretty. I love how you made them look like autumn leaves and the pumpkin in the center really makes this fall card shine! How clever to use these leave die to make a Christmas card too. I love those berries and the that simple Christmas sentiment in the center of them. So gorgeous are both of these twofers! So happy that all was well in your neck of NC, but I know many aren't safe and have lost a lot. Our local news channel did an on air fun raiser for the people of NC. Hope it helps them out some. Hugs, Brenda
