I recently Zoomed with some friends. It was so much fun!
I had tried this technique before and was happy to try it again.

First we lightly sponged a little ways from the edge of a piece of heavy acetate
with our lightest color. Then we changed the angle of the acetate and sponged a
second color. We repeated this step until we were happy with our coverage.
I lay a stencil over the top and lightly added ink through the stencil.
I love the soft colors and pattern!
I added some NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) die cuts over top.
with dimensionals behind the flowers and a fussy cut sentiment banner.

We did another of Eileen's techniques. I didn't have as much luck with this one.

We spread a thin layer of gesso through a stencil and let it dry. It was
such a thin coat that it dried quickly.
Then we lightly sponged color over the gesso. The gesso is supposed to act
as a resist, but mine seemed to absorb the ink more than the paper did.
If you look closely you can see the lighter leaves, but the gesso is between the leaves.
I'm not sure if the problem is the gesso or me but I was able to get a usable card
from it. The stamping and splatters help.

I give you credit for trying something new! I am trying to experiment with some new things (not much success so far!) and I think these are just lovely!
I have watched both videos but haven't tried either technique yet. Your 1st card is absolutely BEAUTIFUL Bonnie!! I love the soft coloring/stenciling behind your flowers(?) (they look like dandelions once they've gone to the white stage but with all the white blown off). And I can see the leaves in your 2nd card slightly but the card as a whole is just lovely! I have a whole bottle of gesso that I bought months and months ago after a card I saw Loll do and haven't done anything with it! Guess I really need to get on the ball instead of just collecting craft supplies! Anyway, lovely, lovely cards my friend! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Hugs. :0)
Both of these are so beautiful. This was my favorite zoom so far and I've watched several more of Eileen's videos. She is so talented as well as fun to watch. The dies you used along with these techniques are so pretty. I love the soft colors and the splatters on the second card.
What a great card!! I will have to try this technique, sound fun with a side of inky fingers. Lovely dies too!

Good job on both techniques, Bon! I really love the first one, both in terms of your background and the wonderful depth and texture you got with the added die-cut flowers and banner sediment. Just to confirm, did you blend white ink through your stencil on top of the graphic colored lines? I didn't even think to do that and I love the result! And your second one is so wonderfully moody. The gesso background looks ghostly and perfect with the pretty pastel colors and black silhouette flowers, stripes and matting! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Keep safe and take care! This is beautiful Bonnie and you can see the leaves in the background and love the soft colour and added black splatters and then the added silhouette flowers over the top with the three black strips over them across the card and the added twine bow which together with the black mat finish it perfectly. x
Sorry Bonnie I thought the daises were a separate post...silly me. These daises look so pretty with the differently colours random lines and the pretty stencilling and love the wavy shape of the added sentiment strip. I have used the lines on a card I did and it adds lots of interest to a background. Eileen has some great ideas and it is good to give these things a try. x

It really was a fun Zoom we had and everyone was happy with the backgrounds they made. Seeing them made into cards --- WOW! LOVE your daisy card with the geometric sponging and then sponging over another stencil. The colours are so pretty. And your daisy die-cut is beautiful. Amazing card!
I love how your second card turned out. I can see faint white of gesso in the background. The overall effect with the beautiful sponged colours and your silhouette are fabulous! Another amazing card! xx

Both cards are beautiful, Bonnie. Even though you say you didn't have great success with the technique for the second one, it still ended up being a gorgeous card - love the black silhouette against the soft colours. I wasn't as successful with that technique either.
But I do love the first technique and am very happy to have learned it in our zoom get together. Yours turned out so well - the stencilling on top of the angled inking is so soft and pretty, and the daisies work perfectly on top of it all.
Two gorgeous cards using beautiful techniques, Bonnie. I love your geometric soft background with the stenciling on your 1st card. Your die cut colored flowers and stems add such beautiful texture. These turned out so beautifully, Bonnie! Love your color choices on the first one and the soft pastels on the second one. Both backgrounds are just gorgeous! I have tried this and it's one of my go-to techniques now.
I like your cards. I'm putting both the vidoes on my To watch later list. I don't have time to play right now, I sure wish I did, the techniques sound like fun.
I've said it before -- you make the prettiest cards! I love the delicate look of the backgrounds, and the flower die (dandelion?) on the first is so cute!
Both cards are so beautiful, Bonnie! The geometric stenciling looks like rays of light from rainbow. Love the soft colors and subtle stenciled pattern!
The gesso resist stenciling is pretty too. The faint touch of gesso and the fine spatters are wonderful elements in the background. The contrast of the striking black silhouette is fabulous!

I absolutely love your background on the first card Bonnie. I've seen this idea before but the stencilling over the top adds extra depth that I'd like to try. I can see that the gesso has resisted the ink in the second card. Another beautiful card with its specks and splatters! Vicky x

Another cards are my favorites. Your colorful backgrounds are so beautiful, Bonnie. The first card looks like a rainbow has flowed onto its surface. And the second with this wonderful gesso and stencil technique. These are such artistic cards, Bonnie!
