Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We're halfway through September and Christmas is just around the corner.

Sunflower Smiles

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Sunflowers always make me smile.

This die is particularly pretty and I couldn't resist it.

It was cut from leftover bits of yellow, green and brown cardstock.

I added some depth by sponging more color at the base of the petals and
outside of the leaves and then shaping the petals.

I paired it with the Basket of Sunflowers embossing folder and it seemed
to be lost.  So I cut a label and embossed it with the Subtle embossing folder,
outlined the label with some of the yellow ink and popped it over the embossed
sunflowers.  The card is a Monarch size (7 1/4" x 3 3/4").

Challenges:
Double D - Sunflowers
Triple B - Birds, Blooms & Butterflies (the blooms are covered)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Banner Sentiments (PB)
Ink:   Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip
Other:  Sunflower Serenade (SB), Nesting Slim Labels Die (Alt), Basket of Sunflowers EF (SB)

Enjoy!

Merry Days with Friends

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When my friends Michele and Nance came to play in my studio,
Michele stamped and die cut this adorable image that she had bought
on the way to my house.

Today we are sharing our makes from this sweet set.

I colored the image with Copics and added a bit of Wink of Stella to the
bows and star atop the tree.

The embossed background gives the impression that these bears are coming
from the forest.

Challenges:
Christmas Kickstart #90 - Embossing Folder
Inkspirational #324 - Make Your Mark (used Copic markers)
Krafty Chicks - Christmas

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Merry Days (PB), Merry Up (PB)

Sunflower Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When I was working on this card, I was not at all happy with it.

I wanted to use Bobby's colors on the Just Us Girls Challenge and they
were not working out for me.

But I persevered and it ended up being one of my favorites.

Thanks Bobby.

I had this NBUS embossing folder out and the Stamptember Chelsea Butterfly had
just flew into my studio.  I was thinking about the colors from the
Just Us Girls challenge and got to work.

I sponged some Cajun Craze ink on the raised portions of the embossed sunflowers.
They looked kind of dull and boring so I added some orange ink over the top.
That made a brighter rust color that I liked much better.

There was some bright blue foil in my stash that worked well for the butterfly and
some bits of gold for the edges.  (This butterfly has seven pieces!)

I used an Embosslit Dauber on the center of each flower and used gold
embossing powder to add shine to the flowers.

Narrow strips of gold on each side finished it off.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #743 - Color Week (Blue, Rust, Gold)
NBUS #66 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Embossing Folder and Die)
Tic Tac Toe - Bottom Row (Multiple sunflowers, Die Cuts, Shine)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  ?
Ink:   Encore Gold, Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip (SU), Embosslit Dauber (Ranger)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Blue Foil, Gold Foil
Other:  Basket of Sunflowers 3D EF (SB), Chesea Butterfly Die (SSS), Gold EP

Enjoy!

Double Trouble

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Group of Seven Cardmakers is using vellum on our cards this month.

I die cut vellum and put over matching white ghosts to get a more
spooky look.  I attached the vellum at the top so the bottom could hang over
the fence.

I used sponging and lots of fun Halloween stamps in the background and
had this fun Halloween fence in my stash.

The bat was stamped on Neenah, colored with a Copic marker and fussy cut.

Challenges:
Group of Seven Cardmakers - Use Product Focus Vellum

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Life of the Party (TH), Best Witches (GKD), Sacred Tree (Lavinia)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Smokey Gray, Memento Tuxedo Black, Pumice Stone Scattered Straw, Wild Honey (DI)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Vellum, Black
Other:  Frightful Things Halloween Dies (TH), Fence (?)

Carolina Wren

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We love to watch the birds and we have a lot of them that come to visit.

One of my favorites it the Carolina Wren with his perky tail.
They are very vocal little guys that chatter, sing and scold.
We always know when they're around.

The wrens are such a pretty rust color that I knew immediately what I was going to do
for the Color Hues challenge.  I was delighted to see that he fits perfectly in this frame.

The frame came with a stencil that was a big help in keeping the frame white
when ink blending the leaves.  The bird was ink blended too.

Challenges:
Color Hues #94 - Rust & Green
Memory Box #111 - Foliage-Trees/Leaves
Four Seasons - Fall (this is how our leaves are looking these days.)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Technique Tuesday (oob)
Ink:   Cajun Craze, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green (SU)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Fun Floral Sidekick Frame & Stencil (PS), Backyard Wren (MB)

Enjoy!

We shared lot of press plates, stamps and dies and I have lots of

Does it look like we're having a good time?

It was the best time!

Bruce and Tom had a good time too.  The timing was perfect to keep Bruce's mind
