Berry Stencil Play

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I rarely use my stencils, but I gave them a good workout in the last week.
For these cards I used a stencil that a sweet friend sent me for my birthday.

While doing the stencil monoprint technique for the Group of 7 Cardmakers, I first
used the stencil in the usual way and got a good inking through the stencil.

I pulled the stencil off the cardstock and spritzed it then laid it wet side down on a
piece of mixed media paper and pressed on it with a piece of paper towel.

This background was my result.  Not the best transfer but I was able to use it.

Two very different looks with one stencil play.

Leaves

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Our craft group used stencils this month.

We stenciled on black cardstock with white pigment ink.

After drying the ink, we daubed some colored pigment ink over the white ink.

I went over the leaves randomly with my embossing marker and added some gold
embossing.  The die cut leaf was in the envelope with the die.  I really don't remember
how I did that, but it went well with the background.

Since there was still time to play, I used the leaf stencil that I'd taken.

I was having trouble getting good coverage with the white ink and since I was using
my leaves stencil, the next day I stenciled again and got better coverage.

It seems I have gold embossing on the brain, because I decided to emboss these leaves
while the ink was still mostly wet.

I die cut leaves with a matching die using some cardstock I'd sponged earlier and
added some splatters with gold re-inker.

Stencil Monoprint with Group of Seven Cardmakers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This month the Group of Seven Cardmakers are using stencil monoprint
as our technique.

I have a very light monoprint background.  I blotted the piece after pressing the
monoprint onto the paper.

Since I had this pumpkin die out and wanted to join in at Color Hues,
a pink pumpkin seemed to be in order.  Emmy loves pink so this will go to her.

I was surprised when I Googled pink pumpkins that there are such a thing!
Who knew?  Certainly not me, but I think it's a terrific idea!

I used another stencil and purple ink for the next card.

Again, I blotted the print after pressing it to the paper and got a very light piece.
It's framed with die cut frames that Michele brought to share.

The Alstroemeria die cut was in the envelope and colored with Distress inks.

If you're interested in trying this technique, there are directions and video links on
the Group of Seven website.
The rest of the gals have some fantastic samples so I hope you'll check them out.  There's
also a linky there if you'd like to share something you've made using this technique.

I have more cards in the works using this technique.  I'll be back with them later.

Fall Blessings

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today is Craft Group day and our theme for swaps this month is Fall.

I thought I'd show you what the gals will be getting from me.

The pumpkins are quite large so I made A6 size cards.

The bottom natural layer was embossed with my Burlap Embossing Folder.

The layered pumpkins were cut from So Saffron cardstock and colored with finger
daubers and ink.  The leaves were cut from some snippets of the natural cardstock and
colored the same way.

I broke out this NBUS alphabet dies and discovered that the set has two W outlines
and no outline of the O.  A reminder that I need to check out things before stashing them.

The little curls on the stems are very narrow strips cut from the Saffron cardstock and
curled with tweezers.

Challenges:
Tic Tac Toe Challenge #256 - Left hand column Fall/Embossing/Layers (Each pumpkin has 4 layers as well as leaves and stems)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Take Care (ret SU)
Ink:   Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Brown Sugar
Paper:   Neenah Natural, Primitive Cream (MFT), So Saffron, Soft Suede
Other:  Into the Blooms Pumpkins, Tasteful Texture EF (SU), Twiggy Alphabet (MB), Stitched Shapes Die (ret SU)

Enjoy!

Peace on Earth

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When Michele came, she brought lots of Betterpress Plates.
I did a lot of pressing!  Here's the results from one of the plates.

Actually it results from two of the plates.  The trees were pressed with a LDRS
press plate, die cut and popped up with foam tape.  I've used chunky embossing
powder, heated from underneath to make a snowy scene.

Of course I had to press another and it resulted in my favorite.

I pulled out my Nativity dies and this was in the envelope.  It was done long ago
and not used.  What a nice surprise and a perfect fit.

Challenges:
Word Power #9 - Make the sentiment the focus of the card
Sparkles #164 - Make the sentiment the focus
Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - Inspired by Anything Goes this week

Hope

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I don't usually post twice in one day, but I had a few minutes and this challenge
was going to close soon.

I love this poem and have looked and looked for a stamp with it that I like.
Finally, I did it on the computer and printed it onto mixed media paper.

This sweet bird stamp has been in my NBUS box for a few months and had been
calling to me.  It seemed the perfect pairing for Emily Dickenson's poem and for the

This time I colored with my Zigs.

The die was a real splurge.  Simon Says Stamp sent me a gift card that went toward it.
Thank you Simon.

Sunflower Smiles

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Sunflowers always make me smile.

This die is particularly pretty and I couldn't resist it.

It was cut from leftover bits of yellow, green and brown cardstock.

I added some depth by sponging more color at the base of the petals and
outside of the leaves and then shaping the petals.

I paired it with the Basket of Sunflowers embossing folder and it seemed
to be lost.  So I cut a label and embossed it with the Subtle embossing folder,
outlined the label with some of the yellow ink and popped it over the embossed
sunflowers.  The card is a Monarch size (7 1/4" x 3 3/4").

Challenges:
Double D - Sunflowers
Triple B - Birds, Blooms & Butterflies (the blooms are covered)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Banner Sentiments (PB)
Ink:   Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip
Other:  Sunflower Serenade (SB), Nesting Slim Labels Die (Alt), Basket of Sunflowers EF (SB)

Merry Days with Friends

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When my friends Michele and Nance came to play in my studio,
Michele stamped and die cut this adorable image that she had bought
on the way to my house.

Today we are sharing our makes from this sweet set.

I colored the image with Copics and added a bit of Wink of Stella to the
bows and star atop the tree.

The embossed background gives the impression that these bears are coming
from the forest.

Inkspirational #324 - Make Your Mark (used Copic markers)
Krafty Chicks - Christmas
