Bountiful Blessing

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

When Nance came to craft a few weeks ago, she brought this sweet House Mouse
stamp she had just bought.  I stamped it while she was here and just got around
to coloring it.

I stamped it with Memento ink and colored with Copics.

I used a die that came with a Glimmer plate.  To get the narrow border, I traced
around the outside on a piece of brown and fussy cut.  It's all popped over a
background of embossed leaves.

Since there was a lot of room between the image and sentiment, I found a
piece of orange twine to put in between.

Challenges:
Four Seasons - Fall
House-Mouse and Friends Monday #451 - ATG using House Mouse-option to use purple or orange

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Hats Off to You (House Mouse/SB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Brown
Other:  Copics (E33, E13, E25, YR12, YR09, E93), Fall Leaves EF (HB), Gilded Nested Rectangles die (SB), Twine (stash)

Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Berries

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Here's another card with leftovers from that last class.

My sweet friend Bobby chose a mood board for the Just Us Girls #793 challenge.
I was inspired by the orange berries on her mood board and there's orange berries
on the Four Seasons mood board too.

The berries are die cut from cold press watercolor paper and I found the easiest
way to color the cut was to use a finger dauber to add ink, then use a waterbrush to
blend.  The markers left a too dark border that wouldn't blend well.

We used a different embossing folder for the class card too.

It used the layout of the card you can see in this post and berries from another
card that I colored orange this time.  Here's the card from class...

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #793 -  Mood Board
Penny Black Saturday - Use Penny Black (die) with option of spots or stripes (spots on the berries?)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bountiful Harvest (Verve OOB)
Ink:   More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green
Paper:   Watercolor (Arches Cold Press), Cinnamon Cider, Neenah Natural
Other:  Winter Berry Branch die (PB), Decorative Sentiments die (EMD), Fallen Leaves EF (SZ)

Enjoy!

Have a Beautiful Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have another Garden Trio card with the Curved Stitch Edge.

I have stamped with Toffee Crunch ink onto mixed media paper and colored
with Distress re-inkers used as watercolor.

When dry, I die cut with the matching die and placed it on a panel that had been
cut with the Curved Stitch die and then embossed with the Texture embossing folder.

I added some stenciling on the solid background and die cut and colored
some little bees to add on.

Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday - Use Penny Black used option of dry embossing

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Garden Trio (PB), Super Day (PB)
Ink:   Memento Toffee Crunch, Antique Linen (DOX)
Paper:  Mixed Media, Neenah Solar White
Other: Garden Trio Die (PB), Distress Re-inkers (Barn Door, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss), Curved Stitch Die (PB), Texture EF (PB), Buzzing Bumblebees Dies (MB)

Enjoy!

Summertime

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We are firmly entrenched in the hot summertime.  Here's where I'd
like to be.

Maybe not as I write this.  There's a tropical storm headed out way so those
ocean breezes might be a little too stiff.

I made a bunch of these cards for last month's swap with my Craft Group.
There are a LOT of pieces to die cut and put together!

I cut all those pieces from cardstock and patterned paper scraps.

The background was brushed on and the sun is a punched circle with ink added
around the edges.  The sand is torn paper with acrylic paint along the edges
for foam along the shore and breaking waves.

Challenges:
Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - Week 1 is Ink (in the background)
Just Us Girls #782 - Use Summer Things Dies

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Speckled Egg, Faded Jeans, Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed (DI), Crumb Cake (SU)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Kraft, Blush, Textured, Foil, PP (scraps)
Other:  Day at the Beach dies (SB), Circle Punch, Hydrangea Punch, White Acrylic Paint

Enjoy!

Lilac

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A while back Spellbinders had some things on sale that I couldn't pass up.

This lilac die set was one of them.

I have a wonderful memory of lilacs when I was growing up.  The lilac thickets were
perfect for us to play in when we were small. The smell was heavenly and the colors
were so pretty.

I've tried to grow lilacs in North Carolina but didn't have much luck.
This die set brings back the look.  I still miss the smell.

Susan Tierney-Cocburn's how to video about using this die was very helpful.  Susan's
suggestion to dab ink on the paper before die cutting worked great.  I used two shades
of purple and a finger dauber on some of Susan's Garden Specialty paper before cutting.

This paper makes it very easy to shape each of the little blooms.  Sticking them down
was a but if a challenge but well worth the effort.

It's definitely a hand delivery card but I have someone in mind.

Challenges:
Colorful Options -  I was inspired by the lilacs in the top left corner
The Flower Challenge #101 - Use Spring Colors
NBUS #73 - Lilac Die

Card Recipe
Stamps: Heartfelt (PB)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Rustic Wilderness, Brushed Corduroy (DI)
Paper:  Neenah Solar White Susan's Garden Specialty (SB)
Other:  Lilac die (SB), Cut & Stitch Circle die (PB)

Enjoy!

Circles and Magnolias

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Flower Challenge is celebrating their 100th Challenge .
Congratulations ladies! Keep up the good work!

It's taken me a while to get to this and the challenge is about to end.
Time goes by faster and evidently I go slower!

The Tulip Trees or Jane Magnolias are blooming in our area and they inspired
this card.  They are so pretty!  My flowers don't come close to the real thing.

A sweet friend gave me the Bubblin' die for Christmas and it was the perfect
way to add circles with my flowers.  I cut them from white cardstock. I
cut the flowers from watercolor paper and watercolored using Distress re-inkers..

The circles didn't show up as well as I wanted on the white card so I did a bit
of acetate smooshing on another piece of watercolor paper using the same colors
of re-inkers and lots of water.

Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - 4th Monday Anything Goes

Snowflake Joy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We finally had enough snow to cover the ground.  Well almost.

Challenges:
Four Seasons - Winter
Inkspirational #333 - Word Prompt - Snow
Peace on Earth #80 - Inspired by snowflake on Christmas tree

It didn't start snowing until after dark last night, but we have a spotlight on the corner of the
house that illuminated the falling snow through a bay window.  I love watching snow
falling.  This morning we could see how much had accumulated.  It's less than 2 inches,
but more than we've had in several years.

Unfortunately it resulted in postponing our Craft Group meeting.  But we can  reschedule that.
We don't get many snow days!

Stay warm and cozy.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  A Better World (PB)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Soft Sky, Vellum, White & Gold Glimmer
Other:  Gold EP, Subtle EF (ret SU), Winter Snowflakes EF (SZ), Stitched Alpine Snowflakes Die (PS), Star of Wonder Die (MB), Confetti Stars Punch (SU)

Enjoy!

Messenger

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

One reason it takes me so long to get through the NBUS is because I like
to use each stamp, die, embossing folder, stencil, etc. multiple times.

Sometimes when my NBUS gets put away, it stays neglected for too long.
Then I feel guilty for spending so much.

So, this year, I hope you'll see more of each NBUS.  We'll see.

I bought this stamp because it works for a blue jay as in the January calendar,
or as a cardinal.

Hubby had a birthday and he loves feeding and watching the birds, so I turned
it into a cardinal for him.  It's our state bird after all.

It's colored with Copics on Neenah cardstock and the paper got a bit
roughed up around the bird, but I thought it added to the rustic, masculine feel.
And after coloring all that, I wasn't about to throw it away.

Challenges:
AAA Birthday #69 - Winter Birthday
Four Seasons - Winter
Penny Black Saturday - ATG using Penny Black
Triple B (Birds, Butterflies & Blooms) - I've got the bird covered

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Messenger (PB), Birthday (?)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Black, Kraft
Other:  Copics (R24, R35, R39, YR07, YR12, N5, C10, E23, E25, E99, YG03, YG63, YG67), Happy Die (Paper Roses)
Large Brad (?)

Enjoy!

Joy to the World

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

One of my favorite views in the Winter is the cardinals spot of color in
the otherwise drab scenery.

The leaves and berries are stenciled using the stencils from the set I used for this card.
I don't use a lot of stencils, but I think this is my absolute favorite!

The rush is on.  Thanks to all the Christmas challenges through the year, I have  plenty of
Christmas cards done and some are even addressed and ready to mail.  It's not too soon to
start on cards for next year though and they are my favorite kind of cards to make
this time of year.

Challenges:
Four Seasons - Winter
Just Us Girls 755 -  ATG Stencil Week

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Christmas Sentiments ( Kaisercraft)
Ink:   Verssafine Onyx Black, Evergreen Bough, Forest Moss (DI), Real Red
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Crumb Cake
Other:  Holiday Sprigs Stencil (SSS), Cardinal Left Facing (Dee's Distinctively), Woodland Branch (MB)
Enjoy!
