More Red Tulips

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

These Waffle Flower Tulips were a good investment.  I've had a lot of fun
with them.  You'll be seeing them again this Spring.

I used them for our March calendar page and had so much fun coloring them
with Copics.  But I wanted to try coloring them with Distress Re-inkers
like Jill Foster does for Penny Black.

The colors of the re-inkers are very intense and it took a bit to get used to
how much water to use with them.  I'll keep working with them.

I used one of Jill's sketches for this card too.

Challenges:
Double D  - The Color Red

Card Recipe

Ginkgo and Pussy Willows

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month, our creative Carol picked these colors...

These colors are perfect for the upcoming St. Patrick's day but sadly I
needed a sympathy card.  The ginkgo was a perfect fit for the green, and
Nance suggested pussy willows for the berry dies.  Both were die cut from Neenah
Solar White and colored with Copic markers.  The Pussy Willows were cut
from white felt for a fuzzy feel.

The very talented Design Team and our equally talented Guest Designer, Nance
have some beautiful cards to inspire you. Check them out then join us at
I can't wait to see what you can do with these colors!

This challenge is open until March 14th at 9:00 AM EST.
I hope to see you in the gallery.

Card Recipe

Floating Frames

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This month the Group of Seven Cardmakers tried a Floating Frames Technique.

Here's what I came up with...

I used this video tutorial for my cards by stamping, coloring and die cutting these
NBUS flowers.  I arranged them around the framed sentiment and added them
with dimensional dots.  I probably shouldn't have popped up the sentiment, but
it's not coming off!

Then I used a large stamp, stencil and die set for a second card.

I started coloring through a stencil with a pink blending brush then added a little
extra color.  I'm not sure what the first color was, but the main color of ink is
listed below.  Once it was colored and die cut, I cut a piece out of the center
so I could use it as a frame which I added it to the card front with a piece of
foam behind the flowers.

The piece that was cut out of the center didn't go to waste. I embossed it then
layered it up and added to a die cut that I've had for years and not shown any love f
or almost as many years.

There's another video at the Group of Seven site and lots of awesome
inspiration from my friends.  I hope you'll check it out and if you want to
make a card using this technique, we'd love for you to add it to the gallery.

New Dies Thank You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Snow days mean play time for me.

I had a chance to play with some Christmas presents from two dear friends.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and cut the piece with a label die for
the center.  The background was dry embossed and daubed with white ink.

The flowers, leaves and berries were all die cut from Solar White cardstock
and colored with Copics then assembled on the card front around the label.
I arranged them, then lifted the label and glued them in place.  The label has a
piece of foam on the back to lift it up.

The Post office is sooo slow lately.  I hope this gets to the destination before this post.

Birthday Candles

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Just Us Girls has a fun mood board this week and one of the Design Team,
Bobby CASEd a card I'd made.  So I thought I'd CASE her back.

I die cut the candles from Neenah Solar White and colored with Copics.  The
background was embossed and popped up with foam.

You can't really see it in the photo, but I die cut a scrap strip of Neenah with a
curve die and embossed it with swirls to look like icing.  I placed the candles
on the "cake" with dimensional strips, and cut the Happy Birthday sentiment to
finish it off.

Can You Handle the Pressure - Used an embossing folder with twist of masculine

Love and Laughter

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another card done with leftovers from my last class.

The card my friends did had red flowers on vanilla.

I had a piece of die cut background I'd tried in white and decided against
using it.  So I did a little bit of ink blending with ink left on a blending brush
and added the die cut to it.

I had in mind to use this as an anniversary card for my brother and SIL and
my SIL is a blue gal.  So I went with blue flowers.

I love that my Valentine Class yields anniversary cards too.

Diane and Darlene have a new challenge!  These ladies are amazing!
This time they challenge us to use our neglected stuff.
The die cut in the background has been hanging around since 2021. I may have
used it once or twice.  I'm glad I kept it around though.

Challenges:
Word Power - Make the sentiment the main focal point of the card
The Neglected Stuff - Using stuff we've had an not used for awhile.

Here's a picture of the card my friends did..

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Special Wishes (PB)

Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Old Olive, Soft Sky

In the Pink

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have some more pink flowers for The Flower Challenge.

I stamped, stenciled and die cut these flowers and popped the panel up
for some interest.  There was just enough room to add this simple sentiment.

The butterfly landed on the flowers and spread some gold punched "sprinkles".

I Used Some Patterned Paper

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I often say that I'm patterned paper challenged.
I love to buy it and take it out and look at it, but usually can't figure out
what to do with it and put it away for another day.

This paper is so pretty and I've used almost the whole pad.  We used a lot of
it in my last class.  I had this piece leftover.

I did this a little different from the class card and added a larger heart cut from
white cardstock instead of using the eclipse technique.  A few butterflies and a
sentiment stretched across the front changed it up a bit.

This is what the class did...

Maybe I should order some more?

Challenges:
Love those Pretty Papers - Did not use the option of red

Coral and Yellow for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's mid month and time for another Color Hues Challenge and this month
I am hosting and got to choose the colors.

The colors I chose are.....

I chose to use the coral on this lovely die cut butterfly.  Don't you love the details and layers
on the edges?  I added some little punched flowers for whimsy.

The background was smooshed into Mustard Seed ink spritzed with water, dried then
smooshed with some spritzed Calypso Coral.  I blotted it some when wet to keep it light.

The very talented Design Team and our Guest Designer, Teresa, have some
beautiful cards to inspire you.  I can't wait to see what you can do with these colors!

Please join us at Color Hues.
This challenge is open until February 28th at 9:00 AM EST.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Thinking of You (Alt)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Mustard Seed (DI), Calypso Coral (SU)
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Mixed Media (Strathmore)
Other:  Layered Plaid die (TH), A2  Layers die (WF), Chelsea Butterfly die (SSS), Hello die (SSS), Hydrangea Punch (MS)

Floral Love

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm excited to be Guest Designing at AAA Colourful today and it's a special day
for them.  Happy 1st Birthday, AAA Colourful!

Here is the colour board for this month.

I understand that there are prizes to be won, so be sure to join in
for a chance to win.  They have very talented Designers and I know you'll
be inspired when you see them.

To make this card, I stamped and heat embossed with a floral background stamp and
used a wet on wet technique for the colors.  I die cut a heart from the background
and added it back in with some foam behind it.  I believe that's called the eclipse technique.

I used deep purple cardstock for the die cut love and sentiment strips.

Challenges:

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Floral Wishes (GKD)
