Cardinal Love

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's almost the New Year!  It seems that the years fly by!

Speaking of time passing quickly, my Aunt Marian has a 94th
birthday coming up.

She loves birds and this time of year the cardinals brighten up those
dreary, snowy days.  So the cardinal was the best choice for her card.

She tells me that she very carefully takes the birds and butterflies off
my cards and puts them on her wall where she can see them all the time.
It makes me happy to know that they can brighten up her room.

I die cut the cardinal from real red cardstock and sponged some
Cherry Cobbler ink along the edges of the pieces.  His beak was cut from
a scrap of orange and darkened with a Copic marker.

I pulled out a piece of patterned paper and stamped and embossed some
extra snowflakes before mounting the cardinal on a branch and adding
a sentiment.

I was inspired by Donna's card at Freshly Made Sketches.

Challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches #717 - Narelle's Sketch
Love Those Pretty Papers - Use Patterned Paper
Triple B - Birds, Butterflies & Blooms - ATG with a bird (Did not use the Inspiration Photos

And now this cardinal is winging it's way to Aunt Marian.

The Work of Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Reposting...

The Work of Christmas

When the song of the Angel  is stilled,

When the Star in the sky is gone,

When the Kings and princes are home,

When the Shepherds are back with their flock,

The work of Christmas begins:

To Find  the lost - To Heal  the broken - To Feed  the hungry -

To Release the prisoner - To Rebuild the nations -

To Bring Peace among brothers and sisters -

To make music in the Heart.

                                                                                             By Howard Thurman

I pray that we will work together to bring peace to our brothers and sisters
and hear the music in our hearts in order to celebrate the gift of Christ Jesus.

Enjoy!

Nativity

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Christmas Blessings.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Luke 2:4-20

May you have the gift of Faith

The blessing of Hope

And the Peace of His Love

at Christmas and all through the year.

The Snow Notes Tour

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Snow Notes are at it again.  They're on tour and singing their
hearts out to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

I spent so much time with these guys that I feel like I should name them. LOL.

Each one uses a piece of decorative paper in the background.

and look at what my friend Jan did for a Christmas present for another friend.
It's in a shadow box so there's lots of texture and dimension.

See that little guy with the snowballs?  She finished it off with a snowball splatted on the tree
and a stack of snowballs ready to be thrown.  Didn't she do a great job?

Angels Three

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's crunch time here and there's not a lot of time for posting.
So I'll just do a little show and tell with this angel from STAMPlorations.
Did you know that the shop is open now through December 31st and this
sweet angel die is available at a great price.

The sentiment is Betterpress onto a smooshed background.  The angel was
die cut from matte gold foil.

This time the angel was cut from a piece of decorative paper with silver
foiled highlights.  Her head and horn as well as the sentiment were cut from
matte silver foil.  The background has some shimmer that you can see when
the light hits it.  Chunky gold and white Frantage heated from underneath make
a starry sky.

This one was cut from white and stamped with Encore gold then heat embossed
with gold.  Her wings, horn and halo are from gold foil.  I used an embossing pen with
gold embossing folder for hair.  She is placed on a Brusho background with splatters
for stars.

Two More Nordic Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you don't mind seeing some more of that Nordic Bird.
He keeps finding his way on my cards.

I was using up a package of patterned paper (I know, what a surprise that I've used it), and
thought it would do very well for this Nordic friend.

I cut the body from one side and the wing from the other.  I do love having coordinating
sides on the patterned paper.

I wanted to play at Freshly Made Sketches #716 where my friend Michele
designed this sketch...

I CASEd Michele's card using a different bird and a die cut circle.  The embossed
base was in my blue folder all ready to go.  And I added a bit of gold.

I had another bird so I went looking for another sketch since the two
special people getting these cards may see each others.

At CAS Colours & Sketches #575, they are asking for a Seasonal card using
any sketch from this year.

I chose Sketch #556 from September 2nd

I hope you are feeling the joy of the season.

Ribbons and Bows

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Whew!  The cards are in the mail.  Now it's time to do some wrapping.

A while back a friend came to craft and brought this embossing folder.
I don't know if you can see it well, but it embosses all shapes of
Christmas ornaments.

A wisp of sparkly greenery tied on with a bow wraps this up like a
pretty package.  My BIL used to tie pretty additions onto our packages.

Another ribbon landed on an embossed piece.  I am loving the curls in this
ribbon and the matching stencil adds just the right amount of depth in
the right places.

Challenges:
Double D - Christmas Wrappings
Peace on Earth - Christmas

Card Recipe
Stamps:  PP Merry & Bright Sentiments foiled (SB)
Ink:   Bundled Sage, Real Red
Paper:   Soft Seafoam, Neenah Solar White, Gold foil

Christmas Flower

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A while back, a sweet friend gifted me with a box of goodies.
This beautiful poinsettia stamp was among them.

I stamped the image slightly off the page with white pigment ink and embossed
with white powder.  Using Distress Re-inkers, I carefully colored.

If you look closely you will see a slight pink 'glow' in the background.
That's what you do when you color outside the lines with red. LOL!

It was fun to color and a great pairing with this lovely Simon Says Stamp
Rejoice die that I believe is making it's debut.

I'm sad that The Flower Challenge is wrapping up it's run.
I have so enjoyed playing along and seeing all the inspiration from
the Design Team both past and present.

The Flower Challenge #109 - Christmas Florals

Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore), Matte Gold (SSS)
