Sweetly Scented Times Two

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I inked the stamp with Distress Ink Cubes, lightly spritzed and stamped
using my MISTI.  A damp brush works well to smooth out the color.

Ala Jill Foster and my friend Leslie, I added a bit of ink left over on a brush to the
bottom corner and some light stamping of grass.

The splatters were done with the corner of a stamp and I stamped off on scrap
before stamping on the card.

I added a butterfly embellishment and some gem embellishments to
finish it off.

Challenges:
The Flower Challenge #105 - Focus on flowers add embellishment

When I opened the stamp case, I found a stamped image.  It was a practice for this
month's calendar page.  I put it on a card too.

It was cut at an odd angle but the hexagon frame took care of that.

I'll add a sentiment when I need to sent it.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Use dry embossing with a twist of Summer Fun
Simply Clean & Simple - Didn't use the option of cute animals

Enjoy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've had some more fun with the Garden Trio set from Penny Black.

I've stamped the flowers on mixed media cardstock with Memento Toffee Crunch ink
for a no-line watercolor look and colored with Distress re-inkers.

After the watercolor was dry, I touched up the color with a watercolor pencil
and Cuused the matching dies to cut the flowers out.

I also cut a piece of Neenah solar white with the Curved Stitch die and embossed
it with a Stampin' Up embossing folder (ret.).

For a little something extra, I added some stenciling in the background.

The enjoy die cut sentiment was watercolored using the same re-inker.

I finished this card off with a few purple rhinestones.

Ephemera and patterned paper that I bought several years ago.

A Bevy of Butterflies

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A while back, Donna Mikasa posted this butterfly card and I LOVED it!
Still do.  Thank you for the inspiration and enablement, Donna.

I found the die online and ordered it.  As usual it sat in my NBUS box
for too long.

Finally....I cut some butterfly shaped cards in various colors and we made
butterfly cards in Craft Group this month.

This was my example and very close to Donna's design.

We used the same embossing folder that Donna used as I couldn't get any more
perfect than that.

I'd die cut lots of flowers in different colors so the gals could arrange them however
they wanted and make the card theirs.

I had an assortment of different colored sticky rhinestones for them to use in the
center of the flowers.  Some of us punched tiny circles from the scraps of gold foil.

I'd had these wires of pink beads for a few years and was glad to finally find a
use for them.

For variety, I cut some from different colors.

I cut quite a few extras.

For a brighter version I cut from yellow cardstock and lightly sponged with
yellow ink before adding the flowers.

This one has white ink sponged on the embossing and a piece of vellum cut
with one of the smaller dies from this set.

I love the soft blue with the purplish flowers!

This yellow butterfly has white inked sponged over top and a copper paper body.

I'll be back soon with another card using this butterfly.
I really had fun with this set!

Challenges:
Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. (week 1 Ink - I've inked over the embossing)
NBUS #77 - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe
Stamps: BP Cheers to You (SB)

Paper:   Very Vanilla, So Saffron, Light Blue, Vellum, Copper Paper, Gold Foil cardstock

Anemone Glimmer Blooms

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A sweet friend sent me the Anemone Blooms Glimmer Plate & Die set
for my birthday.  Thanks again to my sweet friend!

Sometimes my Glimmer machine and I don't get along, but this time it
worked perfectly!  I foiled on a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock with thoughts
to leaving it plain.  But then I wondered how it would work with sponging the
inside of the petals white.

I wasn't crazy about the effect but after adding some white watercolor pencil,
I liked it better.

Using Linda's Freshly Made Sketch #697, I added some strips of gold foil
and liked it even better.

I foiled the included sentiment on a scrap of cardstock and used the die to cut it out.
That's all it needed.

A twofer....

This time I foiled it on Neenah Solar White cardstock and die cut the image.

This time I colored with Copic markers and added it to a stenciled background.

A thin frame and foiled sentiment made a birthday card with my favorite color.

Fabulous as a Flamingo

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.  Here's my card...

This time our lovely Carol has chosen these colors for us to use....

The flamingo was cut from a pale pink cardstock and I brushed some darker
pinks over the body and wing.  Doing the face and beak was a little fiddly and
since then I have decided it's much easier to use a Sharpie for the beak and eye.

Now let's go over to Color Hues and see what the my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Arlene have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Pink and Grey and add it to the gallery at

Please only use hues of these two colors. Neutrals are welcome.
Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on August 14th.
The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Most importantly, just have fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Flamingo Wish (HA)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Pretty in Pink, Strawberry Slush (SU)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pink Pirouette, Gray Texture (?)
Other:  Feathered Friends 12 (PTI), Feather Spiral EF (SSS)

Enjoy!

Happy Christmas for Time Out

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I was very excited to win the Time Out #289 challenge.
It came with a gift certificate to Lawn Fawn and a chance to be
their Guest Designer for this challenge.
Thanks so much ladies!

The challenge for this round is.....

I chose Transport, Star and Book (The Polar Express).  I was going to tear a snowbank, but instead used
this die and emboss set for some snowy trees.

the Screaming Banshee black powder that separates into lots of colors to make
a beautiful night sky. I was able to pick up some of the shine from the mica powder
that's in this powder too.

This challenge is sponsored by Newton's Nook and ends on August 13th.
Winner is chosen by the Design Team and wins a $25.00 gift certificate to
Newton's Nook.

Thanks to Time Out for letting me Guest Design with them and for
the lovely prize.

Christmas Baubles

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've made very few Christmas cards this year and now that
July is nearly over, it's past time to start.

When I saw that Christmas Kickstart is celebrating their 100th challenge,
I knew I needed to thank Jo for all the challenges she's put forth and that I've enjoyed.
This time she and her elf, Jo, are looking for spots, dots and circles.

I've had this stamp and die set in my NBUS box for over a year and it's
way past time to get it out.  And it has circles.

For my first card, I CASEd a card by Barbara Tarayao.
I stamped the ornaments with Antique Linen ink first and masked one to
stamp the second.  Then I added Candied Apple and Barn Door ink with a waterbrush.

All went well until I added some wash to the background.

It looked like these baubles were laying in a mud puddle!

My first thought was to toss the whole thing, but I wasn't unhappy with
the baubles.  So I got out my scissors and fussy cut the ornaments out.

I had that envelope of Christmas odds and ends sitting out and there were
some lovely embossed pieces that I had embossed when my friend Nance came
to visit last fall.

For a twofer, I used the colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge #837
for a non-traditional Christmas card. (Oops.  Too late)

This time I die cut the baubles from colored cardstock and embossed the
poinsettias on each.  I used a Quickie Glue Pen over the embossed images
and sprinkled with fine glitter.

And a threefer.....

The baubles were cut from blue cardstock. I embossed and ink swiped two of them
with snowflakes and added a die cut snowflake on top.  I stamped and heat embossed
the sentiment on the third.  To add a bit of sparkle to match the toppers, I cut a circle
that's just a bit bigger out of glitter paper and a piece to mat the background too.

I'll join my friend Darnell at her NBUS #76 Never Before Used Schtuff
Also joining in Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. since the 4th Monday is Anything Goes.
