Wild Wood with Wood Slice

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

After making this card, I wanted to do at least one more before I put the
set on the shelf.  This time I wanted to use at least one of the wood slices
included with the set.

Here's what I came up with....

Everything but the bees was cut from Neenah Solar White.  I used Distress ink and
blending brushes to color the wood slice and started to color the flowers with
sponge daubers and ink.  I wasn't crazy about the flowers so I went over them with
Copic markers.

The little bees are very fussy.  The dies cut the body, stripes and wings separately. They
don't take much paper but they do take a steady hand to get them together.  I think you'll
be seeing them often in the future if I can keep my hands steady.

Thanks to Donna for choosing my previous card as a favorite at Freshly Made Sketches.
She inspired me with this card that she'd made.  It was what I needed to get this
set out of my NBUS box and give it a whirl, not once but twice.

Challenges:
Allsorts #843 - Embossing or ATG - Embossed background
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG with embossing used option of die cuts
A Cut Above - ATG with at least 1 die cut

Your flowers sure look pretty now! And you slice of wood - perfection. If I can keep my hand steady - you can too! I love using little pieces you have to put together - takes concentration. Love your bees, they remind us just how important they are. I really like 3 dimensional designs. I have to say, your bees make this card special.

This is beautiful, Bonnie. I believe that design was made for your pretty details, and the flowers are gorgeous - maybe it's the ink/copics together but it works!

Bonnie, your wood slice is just a little slice of Heaven to build upon! At first glance, I thought maybe you cut those blossoms from your red velvet! SO beautifully colored - and BEE-u-tiful!

I love the deep rich colors of the primroses, Bonnie, and what a great way to show them off. That wood slice is terrific. I just put this set on my wish list.

I do think these are the prettiest little flowers and I can imagine coming across them in a woodland. Love them with the wood slice and the little bees. Your embossing is the ideal background, too!
