Singing Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm sliding in at the last minute with this one.

Both of these dies are quite old.  I hope they are still available.  If not, I'm pretty sure
that Memory Box has something similar.  Their new Backyard Wren is high on my wish list
but for now these little gems will have to do.

The branch was cut from cardstock and colored with a Copic marker (branches) and
a sponge dauber with Distress Oxide ink (leaves).

The birds were cut from watercolor paper and colored with a damp waterbrush and ink squished
into the top of the inkpad.

I used the branch die to emboss the background and to finish it off, covered the birds with
sticky notes and splattered with some Brushed Corduroy re-inker and White Gouache.

I love this sentiment and think this card will go to a sweet friend who is going through
chemo.  She's a singer.

Challenges:

Bits of Gold

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've embossed with dies again.  I do love this technique!

I also watercolored a die cut to pop on top.  I managed to keep most of the
petal pieces intact and put some tape behind them to keep them there.

To add a bit of foil on the petals, I swiped with a Zig Dual Action Glue Pen.
When the glue was somewhat dry but tacky, I laid some Deco Foil on top
and rubbed it with a bone folder to transfer the foil.

A think strip with the sentiment finishes off a Fall birthday card.

Blissful Colours for Penny Black

Hello there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I'm Guest Designing for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge.
It's an honor and a pleasure to be designing for them this month!

This challenge is always Anything Goes with an option.
This month's option is Use Your Favorite Colors.

I have so many favorite colors depending on the season.
This orchid/light blue combination is a favorite.
My mother had a brooch with these colors that I always loved.

I've stamped this gorgeous flower on Mixed Media paper with
Archival Shadow Gray ink and colored with Arteza Twimarkers and a waterbrush.

The wash was done with Tumbled Glass re-inker on a wet background
and the sentiment was stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink.

I used this curved edge die by Penny Black to emboss the card front.
Embossing with a die is the challenge at CAS Mix Up this month.
It's one of my favorite techniques!

I hope you'll check out the awesome inspiration cards at both these
challenges then join in.
