Singing Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm sliding in at the last minute with this one.

Both of these dies are quite old.  I hope they are still available.  If not, I'm pretty sure
that Memory Box has something similar.  Their new Backyard Wren is high on my wish list
but for now these little gems will have to do.

The branch was cut from cardstock and colored with a Copic marker (branches) and
a sponge dauber with Distress Oxide ink (leaves).

The birds were cut from watercolor paper and colored with a damp waterbrush and ink squished
into the top of the inkpad.

I used the branch die to emboss the background and to finish it off, covered the birds with
sticky notes and splattered with some Brushed Corduroy re-inker and White Gouache.

I love this sentiment and think this card will go to a sweet friend who is going through
chemo.  She's a singer.

Challenges:

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Eloquence (PB)
Ink:   Rustic Wilderness (DOX), Cajun Craze, Baked Brown Sugar
Paper:  Neenah Solar White, Watercolor (Arches Cold Press), Field Day (MFT), Back of cover of Mixed Media pad (Strathmore)
Other:  Copic E23, Fresh Foliage die (MB), Singing Birds die (MB)

Enjoy!

The embossing and the die cut off set one another beautifully. Love your birdies too.

Love this Bonnie - the embossed branch just offset from the die cut is perfect, adding interest without detracting from the diecuts

Such lovely birds and a great background - love the idea of using the branch die to emboss the background and then cut a branch to layer over it!

Very pretty - while you may have a new bird on the "list", these are beautiful too

The sentiment is the best advice. Birds in the garden put a song in my heart, and then to craft them on a card is the next best thing. How lovely this is, Bonnie. No matter that they're not brand new, they are little gems. I love that they're a pair. A delicately beautiful background, too.
