.....Boughs of Holly

I love this stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

I stamped it on Shimmery White with StazOn and colored with markers and a blender pen.

Then I stepped it up a bit with some sponging.

I used an oval mask from cutting an oval with the Big Shot and sponged around the edges.  I sponged the edges of the base card a bit lighter.

The Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS today is to use sponging.  I'm going over there to leave this off.

Accessories:  SU Markers (Garden Green, Real Red, Soft Suede, Early Expresso, Real Red grosgrain ribbon

It's really cold here.  Good weather for stamping but I really need to get my Christmas cards out!

More Snow (I wish)

I know my Northern friends & family can't believe how much I love snow!  But here in NC it doesn't last too long.

We did this card in a Workshop a while back.  Everyone did a great job on their cards and seemed to love the design.

Then I went home and stepped it up a notch to this......

All I did was add some Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and a couple more Basic Rhinestones.  It really warmed it up!  No shoveling needed!

Step it Up with Holly

Last week I showed you a good workshop card then stepped it up a notch.  I'd like to do that again.

This is a card that we did in Sarah's workshop last weekend.  It was very quick and fun and seemed to appeal to all the stampers.

Then I stepped it up a bit to this.....

I used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder on the green, added a punched layer, used the blender pen to pull some color into the leaves and rounded the bottom corners.

I think it made a prettier card.  Only problem is that it didn't leave room for the Season's Greetings on the front.

Step it up a Notch

Last week I did two one layer cards and wasn't satisfied with either of them.  So, I decided to step them up a notch.  This week I stepped up the butterfly card.

One Layer Remake

Remember the One Layer Wednesday cards this week?  I really didn't like them and said that I would probably layer them up.  Well that's exactly what I did!

The leaf card went from this........

To this.....

I cut off the card front, cut it down, matted it with Dusty Durango & Chocolate Chip and put it on a Naturals White card base.

I was liking it better but it seemed like it needed more on the top.  So I masked it again and stamped the leaves a couple more times.  Oops, the mask moved a bit.  Not too bad though.  It's still going to work.

I wondered about putting a little bit more dimension with a cut out leaf.  So I stamped the leaf on a piece of scrap, sponged on some color, smacked it with the VersaMark pad and clear embossed it.  I cut it out, rolled it a bit with my bone folder and adhered it over the original leaf.

OK, I like this a lot better!

Now to get it in the mail for my DB's birthday.  Did I tell you he was going to be 60?  Wow, I remember when we thought that 60 was really, really old!
