Simple Thinking

The One Layer Wednesday challenge last week was to use Cream, Black and just a hint of Bling.


Here is what I came up with.

I think this took about 10 minutes.   I stamped the feather and sentiment in Jet Black StazOn, colored a Basic Rhinestone with a Turquoise Sharpie and stuck it on the feather. Rounded off opposite corners with my Corner Rounder punch and was done.

Just wanted to add that Ann from KingstonMamaCrafts honored me with the Liebster Blog Award.

What is the Liebster Blog award?  Here is a quick explanation.  "Liebster" is German for 'dearest.'  The award is a 'share-the-love' arrangement, given to inspirational bloggers with fewer than 200 followers (based on Google followers).

And, come to think of it, I believe that Kim of Joyful Creations with Kim honored me with this award a while back and I never got it posted.

Great Sketch

There's a great sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  Actually it was last week but there's still time to enter a card.

Here is the sketch Rita gave us to work with.

I love the clean and simple lines of the sketch.

I just happened to have this little design piece left over from the Stamp Stack samples.  A few scrap pieces helped to finish it off.

Edited to add:  The design was colored with SU Markers.

Did you notice the embossed scallops?  I used the new Adorning Accents Embossing Folder to emboss a divider between the sentiment and the design.

Operation Write Home has asked for Mother's Day cards to send to the troops and I've been meaning to get some made for weeks now.  This seemed like a perfect time to start.  If you enter the challenge, you even have a chance to win a prize.  The cards are due to the shipper by march 20th.  That's not very far away is it?

I'm off to the craft room to cut sets for the Stamp Stack and listen to an audiobook.  I've been listening to Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult.  I think I've renewed it 5 times now.  That's 10 weeks!  Lucky for me they allow a lot of renewals at our library.  The catch is, it has to be an old book that everyone else has listened to.  But old books are still good books.

Golden Bells

Another Christmas card thanks to the Merry Monday Challenge.

This week Torico gave us this sketch.

I didn't use one of her stamps this week.  I'm just starting on the digital stamps and need some more practice. I have found out that I can print and heat set the images so I can color them with the SU Markers and a blender pen without smudging.  They would be great for watercoloring too if I could put the watercolor paper through the printer.  My printer is challenged with card stock. (I appreciate your suggestions and hope to find a new printer soon.)

For this card I used the Bells and Boughs set and stamped the image with Jet Black StazOn on Shimmery White then colored with markers.  I colored the bow with a gold glitter pen that I've had for years.  I can't believe it hasn't dried out yet.  Here's a closer view.  Maybe you can see the sparkle.

The hammered gold paper is some I've been hoarding for ages.  It's too pretty to use and too pretty not to use.  Do you understand that thinking?

I added some gold flat back beads that have also been in my stash for a while.

This is one of those cards that didn't end up at all like it started.  Over the course of 2 or 3 days, it evolved.

Elements in Razzleberry

The CAS challenge at SCS is to use one of my favorite colors; Rich Razzleberry.

I stamped the flower spray from Elements of Style in Rich Razzleberry and pulled the color into the design with a Blender Pen.  Then I ran the design through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, punched the corners and tied a bow.

We've had the most beautiful day.  It was 80 and breezy with low humidity.  A perfect day.  And I even got to go outside and enjoy it with the boys.  I know some of  you had quite a bit of snow.  I hope you could enjoy the beauty of it.

I've really enjoyed your comments and letting me know that you would like to join my Stamp Stack if you lived close enough.  I sure wish we could get together.  Wouldn't it be fun!
