Inspired

I am struggling with these challenges this week.  I guess we all have to go through some days when inspiration seems to be hiding.

The first one is for the One Layer Wednesday challenge on Simplicity.  Her challenge this week is to make a one layer card inspired by NATURE.  Nature is always so inspiring.  In fact 99% of my stamps are nature related.

Last fall DH talked me into taking a nature hike with him.  It was BEAUTIFUL!  There were some leaves still on the trees and the ground was covered.  It was like walking through a golden tunnel!  I wanted to try to capture some of that feeling with this card.  It falls far short!

Don't tell Susan, but I will probably cut this and make it a 2 or 3 layer card.  Still simple, but I think it needs something else.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Lovely as a Tree, Sincere Salutations
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede
Paper:  Whisper White
Acc.:  Mask, Sponge Daubers, Soft Suede SU Marker

I did this card first but I wasn't crazy about it.  I love seeing the butterflies.  I always feel like I've received a gift when I see one flitting past!

The layout of this card was inspired by a card by ravengirl on SCS.  Her card is much prettier (and so is the one I did just like it).  This however doesn't give me that yeah! feeling at all.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Dreams du Jour, Because I Care
Ink:  Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede
Paper:  Whisper White
Acc.:  Mask, Stampin' Sponge, Soft Suede SU Marker

I hope tomorrow my mojo comes back!

Thanks for the visit.

Both cards are beautiful! I like how you outlined the designs and left the white borders. :)

Both cards are beautiful; I would have never guessed you struggled with this. Did you hand-draw the frames? That's a great idea, I'll have to try it some day (when I'm not all hopped up on caffeine, otherwise it would be a pretty wavy line).

I love your golden tunnel card, and your butterflies are just beautiful. One-layer cards are *hard*, I think!! And even if you aren't feeling the mojo, I think these are quite lovely :)

Bonnie, I think they look great! I love the way you've boxed them in with the lines. And...they're very "fallish"!

You must be in the place where my mind is these days, wondering what could possibly make a card exciting when it's one layer using one image avoiding any embellishments.

I like yours the way you've done them but you would probably like them better if the leaves and butterflies were popped up. My sister did one like your first one and painted one of the leaves with metallic gold ink. That jazzed it up a bit.

Wish I could do the doodled frames as perfectly as you. Mine look like a drunk was falling asleep while trying to draw a straight line.

Cheers,
Bahb

Both beautiful cards Bonnie and like you I'd be tempted to to layer the first though it really is beautiful as is!

Awww, Bonnie, it doesn't need anything at all. Much less LAYERS! Sheesh. Both cards are simply lovely!
