Using Markers for CAS Mix Up July Challenge

Time for a new challenge at

This month's challenge is....
Using Stamping, Inking with Markers, Dry Embossing, Die Cuts and Watercolor

One of my favorite techniques is to ink a stamp with markers.

I love that I can get different colors on one stamp and it has the watercolor look.

This time I lightly spritzed the stamp with water after using my Stampn' Up! markers
and stamped on Mixed Media paper.

I used an Aqua Painter to add bits of color and smooth where needed.

When the stamped image was dry, I wet the background and added bits of ink
for a washed background.

The background is embossed on some watercolor paper and the frame was die cut
with a MFT Stitched Frame Die from a piece of "wood" cardstock
that I've beenhoarding for a few years now.
The design is popped up on foam for added dimension.

Our CAS Mix Up Design Team has some
astounding inspiration pieces to show you.

And our Guest Designer this month is Colleen (One Smile Lifts a Spirit).
Her card here was our Pick for the May Challenge.

I hope you'll check us out at
I know we'll have another fantastic gallery of
Clean and Simple Mixed Media cards.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Your watercolouring is so soft and delicate Bonnie. Perfect for that gorgeous image. I bought this stamp because of YOU!! But haven't been able to get as nice an image ... I'll keep trying. :) LOVE the tree embossed background and your wood frame. Great combination, my friend. xx

Oh, this is so pretty Bonnie! That embossed background is perfect for those two sweet little birds, as is the frame! Sorry I haven’t been around the blogs much since my return, but,on top of all the usual things to catch up on, and apart from the fact that my 90 year old mother's kitchen ceiling had come down and needed to get sorted out, we are on VERY limited broadband and no land-line, as, the water-board company cut through the telephone cable, when they had to repair a water pipe!! They now inform me it could be up to 7-10 days until we are back to 'normal'. Will definitely try to find time to enter again this month! Have a wonderful weekend! Hazel xx

Wow Bonnie! Your bluebirds are beautiful sitting on that branch! I love how well you got the watercolored look with the markers, it just looks like a watercoloring painting you would see on canvas. Love it! And love the beautiful wood piece and the embossed trees. Just stunning Bonnie! Hugs, Brenda

A friend once asked why keep water based markers now that she was a copic addict? The answer was to do this technique with! This is an awesome example of water coloring with markers. Love it! Now I wish mine weren't all dried up.

That's my favorite technique with markers - I immediately thought of it when I read about the July challenge! Your birds came out beautifully! Like a real painting, especially in that frame!
Hope to be able to play along! It definitely helps to have a full month...
