It's been pretty busy around here, but I squeezed in a few minutes
here and there to do some lessons from Heather Telford's Floral Faves Class.
Sometimes I struggle with no-line watercoloring.
I do fine with inking the stamp and drawing the ink into the design.
But for some reason, stamping and using regular watercolor brushes
usually ended up in a mess!
After watching Heather, I decided to attempt this technique again and
I'm quite happy with the results.
I first stamped this NBUS poinsettia with Antique Linen Distress ink.
I smooshed some Crackling Campfire and Rustic Wilderness ink on my palette
and painted away.
It was a little too orangey looking to me and the green was a bit dark
so I smooshed some Barn Door and Peeled Paint ink and added a bit of that.
I meant to use my watercolor pencils in the nooks and crannies but
I got too excited and said done.
I still may add some.
But then again....maybe not!
Here's a close up so you can see the shine from the embossed sentiment
and center.
By the way, this is a mini slimline card (6 1/4 x 3 1/4)

Your coloring on that graceful poinsettia looks good to me. I like the 2 horizontal embossing strips that set it off and the gold sentiment and flower center for a touch of bling. A beautiful card.
I'd say you aced this class Bonnie as this card is just STUNNING!! It's frame worth my friend, and absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Love, LOVE it!! :0)
You did a fantastic job with this, Bonnie. The colors look wonderful and I love how you did the leaves. I'm thinking I need to check out this class.

This is a really pretty poinsettia stamp Bonnie, and your no line watercolouring looks fabulous and love the colours too. The gold embossing really shines out for the centres and sentiment and some wonderful dry embossed borders too. x

Bonnie, I think you know how much I love that particular Poinsettia - but I don't know that I've ever seen it painted so perfectly!

Before I even read you post, the minute I saw your card I though WOW! I am excited for you. I watched the first two lessons several times to get it stuck in my brain. Hopefully will get to the no line tulips today - depends. Again pat yourself on the back - I love watching Heather paint. I am sure you know that periodically she will post a lesson on line.

I am pea green with envy Bonnie -- I tried the first method of the no line water coloring using distress ink pads and what a God awful mess I made - will not give up - I was too hard handed I think plus the fact the stamp was not stamping well and I stamped several times. Now I have juiced up my little inking pads and will see if it stamps better. You have to really be pleased with what you did - really fantastic!!
