Season's Greetings

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Tis the season for snow.

I hope we see some here in central NC.

This may be the only way I see snow this season.

I've die cut a rectangle and embossed a piece of blue cardstock.

To get a snowy look, I lightly dragged a white inkpad over the embossed trees.

Some chunky white embossing powder sprinkled on and heated from the back
created some snow.

The birches were added to the inside of the frame and the frame has been
popped up a bit on foam so I could add a piece of acetate and some snowy sequins.

The foam doesn't have a lot of depth so the shakers are kind of stuck, but that's okay.
It won't require extra postage to mail.

Ombre for Group of Seven Cardmakers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and now we are running pell-mell into
the new year.  I hope as you look back over 2024 you have had more good than bad
and that 2025 will be a good year for all of us.

This month the Group Of Seven gals are using Ombre as our Design Element.

It's such an easy technique and has a great impact on cards.

For my first card, I used a NBUS die and brushed on color from light to dark on
the petals and leaves.  I set that aside and used a mask and Distress ink to make
an ombre background staying with the same colors.

While it was all on the table, I decided to do another...

This time I went more playful with this sweet bird.

I used the same technique for the background on the first card but going with
more intense color.  The bird was stamped with Copic friendly
ink and colored with Copics.

There are some video links at the Group of Seven website to illustrate different
ombre techniques if you'd like to try.  The rest of the GO7 gals have some fantastic examples
to inspire you. Or maybe you'd like to try your own ombre technique.
There's a link at the post where you can add your cards if you'd like.

I'm also going to add this to Darnell's NBUS challenge since the peony die
has been patiently waiting in the NBUS box.

Blessed Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I hope that today is a very special day for you.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Luke 2:4-20

May you have the gift of Faith

The blessing of Hope

And the Peace of His Love

at Christmas and all through the year.

Cookie Day Gingerbread

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We recently had Cookie Day at my house.
I wish I could post the fabulous smells and sounds.

One of my girls had suggested that we should
all have Christmas aprons for Cookie Day.  My apron pattern and cross stitch
Merry Christmas patterns are both AWOL so I decided to find aprons at the thrift store.
I was able to find lots of aprons in Christmas colors and they just needed a little
something extra.  When I saw this die, I knew it was the perfect addition to
our Christmas aprons.

I found the felt locally and got a bunch cut out.  I also found the bow buttons and
ordered the peppermint candies with the die. They were quick and easy to stitch up
while watching tv.  I added the decorations with thick tacky glue, put a hanger
on each and safety pinned them to the aprons with instructions to remove the
gingerbread man before washing the apron.

Here's the assortment of gingerbread people...

And here I am with my girls...

Becky brought her sisters some snarky oven mitts.
It's best you can't see what Kelli's says!

The grandchildren are getting too big to enjoy the gingerbread decorating but our sweet
neighbors were glad to step in.  They had so much fun and we had fun watching them and
of course had to sample their work.

I hope you have a sweet day.

Enjoy!

Joy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been cleaning out my Christmas UFO box and found this stamped music piece that
had been stenciled too.

The background was too dark so covered with thin layer of gesso.

Then it got put in the box.

Determined to find a home for all these "treasures" or file them in the bin,
I popped it over an piece of gray and thought it didn't look too bad.

The poinsettias were in the box too and they found a home here as well as a
sparkly Joy.

The UFO box is getting lighter.  I wish I was too.  Oh well, life is too short
to pass up cookies!

Red Delight Noel

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This one came from my UFO box.

The piece was done back in 2020 using this technique.

Basically the stamp was inked with VersaMark ink and brushed with powdered ink.
I used Lindy's Magicals.  After adding the powders, I spritzed and stamped on
mixed media paper.  I actually got 7 pulls with this inking and this was one of them.
It was cut with a diamond shaped die

Two Turtle Doves

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have a couple more Christmas cards to share today.  The company that the dove dies
came from sadly closed this week.

The background was made by smooshing Distress Ink and water on
mixed media paper.  The colors I used are below in the card recipe.

I've stamped and heat embossed some leaves and colored them in with
Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink.

The doves were cut from textured cardstock that has a slight sheen to it
and I used some die cut sentiments from my stash.

And a twofer....

Sparkling Poinsettia

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been so busy decking the halls that I haven't had any time to craft! Gasp!

Yesterday, I was trying to straighten up the studio as it had become a dumping
ground for everything it seems.  When I could see the table again, I decided that
I just had to make a card.  I'd had this idea in my head for several days.
Fortunately, it came out pretty much as I imagined.

The torn vellum piece was sitting on the table.  It was a cast off from a previous
idea that didn't work out.

The tall poinsettia die was a NBUS that had come recently.

And I'd been thinking about how I could add sparkle to a flower.

I used cardstock that had already been glittered, thankfully.  It was not a good time
to try to glitter anything!  Or everything as usually happens.

It went together pretty quickly.  Getting the glue to dry on that glitter was
the hardest and most time consuming.  It kept wiggling around.

I didn't succeed in getting everything cleaned up in the studio, but it was fun
making a card for next year's stash.

Now to get that room cleaned up so I can wrap some presents....
