Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
This month the Group of Seven Cardmakers technique
is Dry Embossed Highlights over Ink Blending.
For my first card (a little larger than A2 size), I inked a piece of Neenah Solar White
with three shades of Distress Oxide ink and left it to dry. I find that overnight is best.
While the ink was drying I used a homemade heart mask and pink Oxide Inks
to add color to the center of a piece of Neenah Solar White,
The next step is to emboss the pieces. It's important that the ink is dry so
you don't get mixed colors the next time you emboss.
(How do I know that?)
Dragging and patting a white inkpad over top of the inked embossing really
accentuates the embossing!
3D embossing folders work best, but regular embossing folders work well too.
This is such a fun technique! My teammates have outdone themselves
with examples of this technique. You can see them at
There's a linky there if you want to try this technique and share it with us.

Bonnie, I love your cards and birds and lovely white pigmenting of those raised bits of embossing!

Your beautiful die cut bird is a so elegant with it's touches of gold - a lovely addition to both of your embossed and inked designs Bonnie! Julia xx
Two beautiful examples Bonnie. I am always in awe of you bird die cuts and these two are stunners. They look amazing against your highlighted embossed backgrounds ♥
How beautifully you've done the white ink over the embossing, Bonnie. I especially love how only the heart is colored on the second card. And that bird! He is fabulous!
Really terrific examples using this technique Bonnie and two really pretty birds over the top on the first two..love the shades of blue and then pink for the masked heart and love the hanging heart is is carrying in it's beak also a beautiful choice of EF's too. x
I love the softness that touch of white adds! Two lovely cards, Bonnie!
Almost forgot to thank you for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls! ;)
I love birds on cards so much. Both of your cards are fabulous. Especially the first one - the shades of blue in the background are beautiful and your white highlights worked perfectly - and that bird is gorgeous! The second one is a lovely Valentine.
Two lovely bird cards Bonnie!! The first is a gorgeous mix of shades of blue for your background, using one of my fav embossing folders --- it's so beautiful. The white shows up well over your embossing. And I love your beautiful bird!! And the vellum sentiment banner was a great idea so the embossing shows through!! Of course, I love your second card ... it's pink! :) The heart makes a lovely focal point for your second adorable bird with shiny, gold accents. Great work, my friend!! xx
Love both of your cards Bonnie. The die cut bird on the blue background is lovely. I like how you made your own heart mask to showcase the cute bird on the 2nd one. It made a perfect Valentine's card.
Two absolutely BEAUTIFUL cards Bonnie! I forget what a simple technique this is but how amazing it turns out! Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
A beautiful technique and cards. x
Oh! You had me at those gorgeous birds (I will not shop, I will not shop). Love their gold wings, and the beautiful colors and embossing on each card. It's so cute to have the bird carrying the Precious Heart in the second card. I want to try this technique!
Really fun, friendly and fantastic technique! Love your beautiful examples, they're definitely special, Bonnie
