Starry Village for Rudolph Days

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today I'm playing with Scrappy Mo's Rudolph Days Challenge.

I'm not sure who makes this die.  Maureen gave me this die cut when
I saw her at the ESCR Retreat in May.

The background is a saturated paper towel from mopping up ink. I
separated the two ply and used just one of them.

I've put some Dazzling Details on the background and spread it out for
some sparkle.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Artsy Paper Towel for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.

There's still time to join in at CAS Mix Up

Loll is hosting the challenge this month and she chose...

I'm still playing with my dear granddaughter's paper towels that
she used to mop up the Brusho and Lindy's Magical pieces.

Here's a picture of a similar paper towel as the one I used for this card.
See the flower in the middle?

It looked like a flower already on the paper towel, so I separated
the two ply and used liquid glut to adhere one to a piece of cardstock.
I used the same technique to do this as we used for tissue paper.
I actually die cut this piece which flattened most of the beautiful texture.
Next time I'll use the scissors!

I added a frame and sentiment and strung a few
gold beads to adorn my flower.

What kind of fun are you having with paper towel art this month?

Our Design Team and Guest Designer Betty have had lots of fun.
Check out their samples and hope to see yours at CAS Mix Up.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Flutter by Thoughts

Hi there.  Another week has whooshed by.

I hope you have a fun weekend planned.

A few weeks ago we had a stamp show in Raleigh and I let myself be
talked into buying some shimmery sprays.

The sprays are really pretty, but the sprayer has a love/hate relationship with sprays!

I did a make and take at the show and used the sprays and it went okay.

Maybe we were using magic spray bottles there?

The ones I bought don't work as well or maybe I'm just afraid of them.

But I pulled out a stencil, sprayed some Pixie spray on the back (which worked out
really well), put it all in my spray box and sprayed away.

The sticky back of the stencil really helped to keep it in place so the color
didn't run underneath, but I can't say I got a very even spray job.

I think I need to keep trying.

Anyway, I cut a piece out of the stenciling and put it on a card for
this month's CAS Stencil Challenge which is hosted by Robyn

The Design Team have outdone themselves and make me want to perfect this technique.

Maybe I'll get a chance for a redo.

And maybe I'll be really glad I only bought two bottles of shimmer spray.

The base of the butterfly was die cut with a piece of paper towel used to mop up Brushos.
I die cut a snippet of card stock to glue it to then popped the white top layer on.

The butterfly was inspired by Chrissie's butterfly here. (Scroll down a bit for the butterfly.)

I'll add it to the gallery at CAS Mix Up

and at CAS Watercolour

I'm hoping that snippet for the butterfly is enough to get me into
Pixie's Snippet Playground.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Lavender Friend for CAS Mix Up

Hello crafty friends.

It's a new month and the start of a new
CAS Mix Up challenge.

This month my dear and very talented friend Loll is hosting the challenge.

You'll find video tutorials on the CAS Mix Up site as well as Loll's blog.

As  you'll see, there's more than one way to use a used paper towel on our cards.

My dear granddaughter had a play with Brushos and Lindy's Magicals a while ago
and we saved the paper towels from her mop up.
She used LOTS of crystals so we had some very vibrant mop ups!
Want to see some?

For this card, I laid an inky paper towel over a piece of Neenah cardstock,
spritzed liberally with water and pressed down into the cardstock.

Loll (and Jack) do much better about getting the pattern from the paper towel
but if you look real close in the upper right corner, you can see a little.

I've splattered a little Wilted Violet re-inker onto the background
piece and stamped the sentiment in the same color ink.

The flowers were die cut and watercolored with Zigs and a waterbrush.

I created the little twirly paper with my CutterPillar. It will cut a very thin strip
that curls.  I used a piece of watercolored paper to cut them from.

Our very talented Design Team along with our Guest Designer, Betty,
have some awesome inspiration for you.  I hope you'll head over to
to check them out, then pull out some inky paper towels and join in the fun!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Playing with Paper Towels

Hello friends.

My friend Loll has a new video tutorial out.
She's showing how she uses paper towels used to mop up ink on her cards.

I've tried this technique without much success.
After watching Loll's tutorial, I see that I haven't  had enough ink in my towels.

I need to try it again.

First though, here's a card where I've used a mop up paper towel as a background.

I've separated the 2 ply sheets and wrapped one around a piece of cardstock
for a background.
I didn't get it straight.  But then, I rarely get things straight!

I've place an Alexandra Renke die cut that was a gift from a sweet friend,
and a butterfly die cut from one of my Brusho backgrounds.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!
