Sketch and Color

This simple little card takes in three challenges.

Here are the challenges:

Freshly Made Sketches:  A sketch from Jen Mitchell

Shopping Our Stash:  Use and link to any sketch.  I really dug into my stash for the stamp set.  I've had it for years and I don't think I've ever inked it.  It's about time!

Color Challenge at SCS:  This weeks colors plus neutrals of choice

Dessert option is to use metal.  I skipped dessert this time.

All Supplies are Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  In Full Bloom, So Happy for You (both retired)
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn, SU Markers (Regal Rose, Bravo Burgundy,  Summer Starfruit)
Paper:  Confetti White (retired), Bravo Burgundy, Whisper White
Other:  Blender Pen, Scallop Trim Border Punch

I stamped the design with Jet Black StazOn and colored the flowers with markers then blended the petals.  When you blend Regal Rose and Bravo Burgundy it resembles Rich Razzleberry which is one of my favorite colors.

I hope y'all have a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you come back soon.

Enjoy!

Blossom Punched

Here's a simple card that I did with some of the leftovers from the last Stamp Stack.  There's not much stamping, but it's lots of fun.

Those of you that visit often have probably noticed that I don't use decorative paper very much.  Usually if I use a bit of it, I stick with a very subtle print.  But I'm loving the bright colors of this Summer Smooches paper.

The Paper Players challenge this week is Bingo

I have Circles, Blue and Floral.

This was inspired by a card from the Stamp with Sandy blog.  Thanks Sandy for the inspiration.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  So Happy for You (retired)
Ink:  Gumball Green
Paper:  Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, DSP, Gumball Green
Other:  Stripes and Perfect Polka-Dots EF, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Sweet Buttons Embosslit, Big Shot, Large Scallop Circle, Blossom, and 1/2" Circle punches

I'm so glad you came by for a visit!  I hope you'll come back soon.

Enjoy!

Hurrah for the Red, White and Blue

I haven't been keeping up with the challenges very well the last week or so.  I've been wanting to, but life keeps getting in the way.  Ah! At least I have a life and I'm thankful for that.

Anyway, last night, I snuck away and did not just one, but two cards.  It was fun too!

This one is for a friend, who was chosen for a full time position at the library where I used to work.  I'm so delighted for her and for the library.  They're a perfect match!

The layout is from retrosketch this week.  I tipped it over though.  I really love the simplicity of these sketches and wish I could play every week.

For card number 2, I used the WT377 challenge at SCS last week to use the negative of a die or punch.  I punched this flower with the new Blossom punch and attached a piece of that bright and beautiful  Summer Smooches DSP behind it.

This will go to my friend whose birthday is Independence Day.  I love having a red, white and blue card to give her.

The challenges for both of these cards are...
Dynamic Duos  to use Real Red and Island Indigo
Less is More  to use Red, White and Blue in honor of the Queen's Jubilee
Paper Players  where Jaydee challenged us

Wow! I got a lot of challenges out of these two cards.  Usually I don't combine many challenge.  Considering my lack of stamping time lately, it was nice that all these challenges fell into place.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Last Chance to Sale-a-brate

Tomorrow is the last day of Sale-a-bration 2011.  When I first saw the Sale-a-bration sets, I wasn't too excited.  But now I've grown very fond of them and hate to see them go.

The layout for this card is from the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge.  After I finished it, I thought it looked very much like Lee Conrey's card.  I have often been inspired by Lee's cards.  I love here clean and elegant style.

The CAS challenge at SCS this week is to put some cut up sentiments on a card.

I used the colors from the SCS Color Challenge this week, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, & Baja Breeze.  Dessert is to add a bird or birds to the card.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sweet Summer, So Happy for You
Ink:  Marina Mist, SU Markers (Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, Marina Mist)
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Whisper White
Accessories:  Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Baja Breeze Seam Binding

That's it for today.  I'm glad you stopped by.  I'll be back tomorrow with some more Sale-a-bration.

Enjoy!

Two for One

Today's One Layer Wednesday challenge, hosted by Susan of Simplicity fame, is to do a card inspired by a picture found on Marta's Boards at Pinterest.

I am really uncomfortable with inspiration photos!  First of all, I have trouble zeroing in on which to be inspired by and second, I'm not real sure what to do with it when I find it!  Am I uptight or what?  I tend to just copy what I see and I'm not sure that's the point of the whole thing.  I did this card inspired by this picture.

When I finished with the wreath,  it seemed a little to dense (thick, not stupid) to me.  So I tried again.

It's still not as lean and simple as the inspiration, but I liked it better.  I used the Stamp-a-majig for the first card and just eyeballed the second.

I'm not pleased with the birds.  I should have left off the feet and inked them in tan.  Those tails make me think of a Carolina Wren instead of the Chickadee I was going for.

But do you see what I mean.  I pretty much did my version of the card I saw.  Not much inspiration there!

I did another that is a bit more creative and not so much of a copy.  I'll share that tomorrow.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sweet Summer, So Happy for You  (both are Sale-a-bration sets), You're a Gem
Ink:  SU Markers (Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Basic Gray)
Paper:  Whisper White
Accessories:  Eyelet Border Punch, Blender Pen

Thanks for the visit.  Enjoy!

Heather Blues

Wow, it's late!  What a busy day today.  I did manage to get in a quick card for the Color Challenge at SCS.  It's called Crushing Bashful Blues with Pizzazz.  In other words, Concord Crush, Bashful Blue, & Pear Pizzazz.  Dessert this week is use of the white gel pen.

I love blue and purple together!  My mother had a brooch that had purple and blue stones on it.  I have that brooch now and it's one of my favorites although, I don't wear it much now that I'm retired.

I inked the lavender stamp, from Herb Expressions, with markers and stamped on a scrap of Whisper White. Then I stamped a couple more times without reinking.  The little butterfly is from the So Happy for You Sale-a-bration set.  I inked it with a Bashful Blue marker and used the fine tip of the Concord Crush to edge it.  It's really hard to see, but I dotted the butterfly with the Signo white gel pen.  Just a taste of dessert!  Both the design piece and sentiment piece are popped up on dimensionals.

Since Lavender stands for devotion (even though I left that part off when I inked this), I thought it would make a great anniversary card.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Herb Expressions, So Happy for You, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  SU Markers (Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, Bashful Blue)
Paper:  Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Concord Crush
Accessories:  Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Concord Crush ribbon, Ticket Corner, Word Window & Modern Label punches

The Creative Arts group met with me today and we had a new stamper, Lori.  She had never made a card before.  I thought I would share what she did.

She wanted to make a Birthday card for her Sister-in-law.  I think she did a great job, don't you?  (Can you tell we were playing with the Big Shot today?)  The other ladies made some lovely cards too.  I just didn't get pictures of everything.  It's a lovely group and I so enjoy spending time with them.  They always manage to inspire me!

Sorry this has gone on so long.  Thanks for the visit.  Enjoy!

Sweet Summer Birthday Banner

This was a fun card to make.  I'm really enjoying the Sale-a-bration set, Sweet Summer.  And to think, I almost didn't order it!  Just goes to show you that first impressions aren't always correct!

The layout is from clean&simple

The beautiful colors are from the Color Challenge this week at SCS, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery and Rose Red.  Dessert is a banner.

I cut the 1/2" banner from a scrap piece, cut the ends, inked the edges and folded a bit on the ends with my thumbnail.  The birthday wishes is from another Sale-a-bration set, So Happy for You.  I love the fun font of these sentiments!

Remember those Sale-a-bration sets are free with a $50.00 Stampin' Up! purchase and will only be available until March 31.  Let me know if you want to order or go to my sidebar and order from my website.  (Make sure it is the bon2stamp website.  Name in the top right hand corner.)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sweet Summer, So Happy for You
Ink:  Black StazOn, SU Markers (Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Marina Mist)
Paper:  Whisper White, Marina Mist
Accessories:  Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Ovals die, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Certainly Celery & Marina Mist Ribbon, Signo White Gel Pen, Blender Pen

I meant to put a pearl in the center of the flower.  I think I will do that before I send it out.  Imagine it with a pearl center, ok?

Thanks for the visit.  Enjoy!

Three Square

Happy Sunday, stampers.  I hope you have had a great weekend and got to play in the ink a bit.

I don't usually do St. Patrick's Day cards, but a friend asked me today if I did because she needed some ideas.  I wondered if I even had anything I could use.

The Sale-a-bration set, So Happy for You, was sitting on the table, brand spanking new, and it had a tiny shamrock!  Not only could I do something for St. Patrick's Day but It was a perfect fit for the Less is More challenge to do a card with 3 squares!

Challenge 13 over at SUO  is to do a card using something from the Sale-a-bration catalog.  This should work for that challenge too.

The shamrocks are inked with Wild Wasabi (stems) & Garden Green then stamped on 1" squares of Whisper White.

I chose to use the good luck sentiment in this set.  I love the font and it made me think of leprechauns and fun.

I decided to add a few paper piercings under the sentiment.  It's probably a little more than it needed.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  So Happy for You
Ink:  SU Markers (Wild Wasabi, Garden Green)
Paper:  Whisper White, Garden Green
Accessories:  Paper Piercer, Mat Pack

And here is a similar card...

I rounded some of the corners on the shamrock squares, used the sentiment from Teeny, Tiny Wishes and added a bit of Wild Wasabi ribbon that had been stashed away for a couple of years.

Thanks for coming by to visit.  Enjoy!
