Poppy & Silver

The color challenge at SCS yesterday was to use Poppy Red, White and Silver or Gray.

Since all my Valentine stuff was out, I opted to use these colors to make another Valentine.

The hearts were stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with silver.  The scalloped hearts behind were cut with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit from Brushed silver.

The sentiment is also embossed with silver.

CASEing Marisa Again

Here is another card that I CASEd  from Marisa's (whitewatermama) gallery on SCS.  This is the card I chose this time.

I flipped the card and kept the black scroll from Baroque Motifs.  I embossed mine because I wanted it to really stand out.

I chose hearts instead of butterflies because I need some Valentines.  I chose red ribbon instead of the black, rhinestones instead of pearls and a different sentiment.

I can also drop this off at the SUO challenge 9 to Bring on the Bling.

Occasions Mini 2011

This is a card from my favorite set, Nature Walk.  When I saw this set, I knew I just had to have it.  This bird really caught my eye.

I thought this was perfect for a One Layer card.  I used the Naturals White cardstock, since it has more body.  The Robin is stamped with Soft Suede and I used the Blender Pen to blend the ink a bit.  Then I used some Watercolor Pencils, blended with the Blender Pen, to color his underside.  The sentiment is stamped with Chocolate Chip and my new Curly Cute sentiment set.

I can't wait to play some more with this set!  I love all the images.  There's more great things in this catalog too.  I'm glad we can order from it for a few months.  It will take that long to get through my wish list!

Elements of Kissing

Yesterday I had a few spare minutes and looked on SCS at the Featured Stamper Challenge.  This week's stamper is  Marisa, aka whiterockmama.

I took a look at her gallery and stayed for about an hour! What a talented lady!  I printed off 6 of my favorites cards that I would like to CASE. 

I spent so much time oohing and aahing over her cards that I didn't have time to make anything!

Then when I checked out the CAS100 challenge on SCS this morning and saw that we were challenged to use the "kissing" technique, I knew which of Marisa's cards I was going to CASE.  You can see it here.  I kept the 3 hearts but inked them and used the dotted texture behind them. I changed the color and used a different border punch and Cherry Cobbler instead of Real Red.  I also used the pearls on the hearts instead of the bottom of the card.  I think this card will make it through the mail.

To do the "kissing" technique you ink a solid stamp in a dark color.  Then you lay a patterned stamp on top of it.  It removes the ink leaving a pattern.  (There's a link to a tutorial at the challenge site on SCS.)

I used the solid heart from I {Heart} Hearts and inked it with Cherry Cobbler.  Then I laid the scroll stamp from the Elements of Style set on top to remove the ink and stamped it on Whisper White.  I clear embossed the hearts before cutting them out to give them a silky look.

Boy did I have a scare!  I went to get a tissue and when I came back my monitor was off and it wouldn't come back on!  I wiggled all the cables and right now it's working.  I hope I can finish this post!

I used the colors from the SCS CC303; Night of Navy, Old Olive & Daffodil Delight.  I love that color combination!

The bird was stamped, then smacked with VersaMark and clear embossed.
