I did some foiling through a stencil for CAS Stencil.
I don't have laminator so I watched the video at the challenge site
7 Ways to add Foil Without a Machine - Janie (26:18) - stencil part is at 15:35 of the video
Loll suggested using Pixie Spray.
I had that.
So I laid the stencil on some black cardstock and sprayed.
Then I laid the foil down and used a bone folder to try to transfer the foil.
It wasn't working on those little dragonflies.
So I used a stylus and rubbed some more.
I finally had enough foil to show the dragonflies.
And my stencil is now covered in foil.
I think I should have removed it after I sprayed.
Oh, well. It's a really pretty stencil now!
Here's a different angle because it really hard to photograph that foil!
I love the shimmer of those dragonflies!
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

Bonnie, that card was definitely worth all your hard work, the gold is stunning against the black :)
Stunning use of the foil and stencil, I LOVE the result.

Sounds like this card was a bit of a challenge, but so glad you persevered Bonnie as it turned out AWESOME!! I love the shimmery gold against all that black and the scored lines add so much definition to the card! STUNNING card my friend!! :0)
So pretty Bonnie and love the gold and black combination and the added embossed lines look great too. x
Great job with this difficult techinique Bonnie! Love the results. Tried this without much luck and LOVE those dragonflies! Gold on black is always so elegant!
This turned out beautiful. The gold really shines on the black card stock. It seems like it would be easier to foil through the stencil but now you know! Thanks for sharing that tip to remove the stencil first.
Bonnie, from where I sit, and as they are among my favorite bugs, you have just the perfect amount of foil on these precious little 'hitchhikers!' Really pretty!
=]
Bonnie, that is beautiful! But quite a lot of work. I just bought the new Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo - it doesn't require a laminator. I'm going to put something on CAS Share about it later today.
I've been looking for my Pixie spray for two days now. I wasn't going to use it with foil but now that I've seen your card I may try it. I love those sweet little dragonflies, Bonnie.
Wow, you have a two-fer, a new shiny stencil (*wink) and a beautiful shiny card. I love the dragonflies with the gold foil, because in real life they do shimmer and shine! Heart Hugs, Col
Beautiful -- gorgeous! Are you getting all classy on me????
Sandy xx
Well done you on persevering Bonnie and what a classy, elegant and pretty card. The dark cardstock with the foil looks fabulous x. I had a little chuckle about your 'pretty' stencil x.
Glad you kept going .. this is one gorgeous and elegant card. Love the dragonflies done in foil. I learned from Hilary to use an iron for transferring heat as well. I hadn't thought of that. :) xx
Oh that was a clever way to use foil without having a laminator! I will have to watch that video. Your card is stunning! I love your foiled dragonflies, they are my favorite "fly, bug" whatever family they belong in. I also love the embossed lines that stretch across the card base. Nice job Bonnie! And I just bet too that stencil is gorgeous. You will have to make a card out of it now. lol Hugs, Brenda
Your stencil might be pretty - but so is your card!!! Lovely!!
Lynn
Your dragonflies are gorgeous in gold foil, Bonnie! Love your design, too! So sorry you had trouble with this technique...foiling can be a real challenge without a laminator ~ Thanks so much for joining in the fun at CAS Stencil! Barb xx
Your foiled dragonflies really pop with the black cardstock contrast. Very elegant, Bonnie. I do not have a laminator either and used a bone folder and then just my finger that worked the best. It took a lot of rubbing, but I liked the distress look on my card. I think your dragonflies have a bit of distressed look too. Very pretty! TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy
What a dignified card Bonnie - loving the touch of texture in the background, and the gold foiling over the dark background is stunning
Blessings
Maxine
Well it looks beautiful! I have to say that I really didn't want to spray adhesive on my stencils ... The one I have I know would not come off Lol! I caved in and bought some deco paste to try this but so far I haven't used it!
Beautiful elegant card Bonnie, love the gold and black. I bought a cheap laminator as I wasn't having much luck with the foil sticking. Might've been heat transfer foil I was trying to use. Such fun learning though! Cathy x
Looks gorgeous, Bonnie! The dragonflies are so delicate and the bold border makes everything pop :o) As for the stencil, at least it isn't an annoying color!
Spectacular and so rich. I will definitely CAS this beauty. How special scoring behind the panel, brilliant and professionally presented. WOW xx
I never thought of Dragon Flies as being elegant but yours are definitely elegant! I don't have a clue what Pixie Spray is --
but it must be better than Pixie Dust!!
Sandy xx
Your dragonflies look much more interesting than if you had used a laminator. They have minor imperfections, which is why they gain so much unique beauty. As you can see, sometimes the lack of certain devices is conducive to creating even more beautiful cards.
