Let's Go to the Beach for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up.

We're doing watercolor this month and our challenge is hosted by my very
talented, special friend Loll.

Make sure watercoloring is the main element of the design.

This is part of a watercolor scene done with watercolor crayons.
They are not my favorite medium for watercolor but I did manage a decent beach scene.

I've stamped the shore birds in the middle of the beach scene,
and sea oats in the corners. Then I decided to cut the piece in half to make two cards.

Here's the other one.

I added some partial embossing of waves in the background for added interest
and popped the designs on foam.

Our Design Team has some awesome beach scenes to share with you.
And we are pleased to welcome our Guest Designer, Brenda.
Hope you'll watercolor a beach scene and join us at

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Your watercolour crayons worked really well for this, you have achieved a perfect beach scape and those little birds are a brilliant detail xx

Gorgeous beach scenes Bonnie! Your watercolouring is fantastic so I'd say you did VERY well with the watercolour crayons. Love both cards! xx

A pretty scene cut in half Bonnie, and love the shore bird silhouettes and love the bit of white embossing on the waves. The dry embossing on the white/kraft base cards adds a delightful finishing touch to both. x

Two lovely beach scenes Bonnie! I think the crayons worked perfectly here - they gave texture and depth and a clever idea to partially emboss the card base - they look great! x

Very clever to make that beautiful beach scene large enough for two cards, Bonnie! Both very sweet - love the added interest of the embossing on your card panels.

Both of the beach scenes make me want to bury my toes in the sand. Your water and sand look so authentic and the birds are so at home there too. Thanks for the encouragement. I am going to try water color more often and practice.

Using crayons? Wow, this is perfect for those little beach birds. Sitting on the beach and looking out to the ocean, that's the perfect scene. The black matting and stamping brings this whole beautiful scene together. Love this xx

What a talented watercolorist you are, Bon! I love both beachy versions! Those little sandpipers really bring back memories of many days spent on the beach with either toddlers or dogs running after those fleet-footed birds! Keep well! Hugs, Dolly

Very realistic beach scene, Bonnie. Love your colors, stamped shorebirds and beach grass. I loved the ocean waves and spray. We are looking forward to going to the beach this Winter when there are very few visitors and Lots distancing:-) Love and Hugs..Nancy

Watercolor crayons are new to me, but they worked very well for both of your beach cards! Love the beautiful colors of the ocean and the sky!
It's wonderful that you added the wavy dry embossing to the card base. It's echoing the ocean and it adds so much interest.

Oh, wow, I wouldn't have guessed this was one image cut apart. I keep going back and forth... they're beautiful, Bonnie! I still use my WC Wonder crayons from SU every now and then. They're a different experience, but fun sometimes.

Great use of the crayons for your beautiful sea and beach scene Bonnie and the birds and grasses finish it off perfectly.

Both so pretty and serene. Would have never known watercolor crayons are not your favourite because they looks like paintings that should be framed! I remember those SU! stamps... I guess I should have hung onto mine as they seem timeless.

These look fab ...... and a two in one, how clever!
Your watercolour beach scenes are beautiful, and I love the embossing on the actual card ....... I think I like it on the kraft version the best xx

Your horizon inspired me the most. I have the impression that a stormy atmosphere is starting to form there. Beautiful watercolor Bonnie. The other card is equally beautiful, sunnier.
