Turning the Page December 2021

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our December page using Sweet Poppy Damask Baubles & Bows Stencil.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Time to do a new calendar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Window Shaker

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

While looking through my NBUS box, I found some die cut windows
that a friend and I shared a l-o-n-g time ago.  We think is was five or six years.

Finally an idea of what to do with them hit.
(We'd long forgotten what made us buy them.)

I don't often do shaker cards but they were the perfect project for these die cuts.

While I was at it, I did all four of my windows using different color combinations.

The bows from The Greetery are new to me thanks to a sweet friend sending
me some of her die cut bows.  They convinced me that I needed some.

The shaker elements are sequins I found at the thrift store and some glittery, sparkly bits
another friend gave me for my birthday.

The glitter does stick to the acetate, even after using and embossing buddy, but
I like how it resembles frost.

These gorgeous bows were cut from foil and glitter cardstock.
My camera doesn't like the sparkle, shine and reflection of the acetate,
but I love it!

Poinsettias

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My favorite Christmas flower is the poinsettia.

I know that the red "petal" are the leaves of this beautiful plant and
the flowers are those tiny little blooms in the center.

This little poinsettia has been cut from a piece of Inka Gold smoosh in my stash
and added to a ring of leaves that were part of my win at last month's
Birthday Bash at the Flower Challenge.

It was so much fun shopping at The Ton and you haven't seen the last of
this sweet circle of leaves.

The photo doesn't do this justice.  We all know that our cameras don't
like to show shine.

Speaking of shine...

This poinsettia started out as foiling with a Glimmer plate on mixed media paper
and watercolored with Distress inks.

The frames and sentiment have been foiled too.

Then I added some leaves cut from gold foil cardstock.

In case you want to see the shine of the leaves, take a look...

Now I'd better slip over to this month's Flower Challenge with one of these.

I'm still undecided which it will be.

Winterberry Merry Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's almost time to start sending out Christmas cards and I still need a few.
So I'm grabbing every chance I get to get in the studio and work on them.
I think I need to work a little faster!

When I saw the Inspired By Challenge photo this week, the candles made me
think of the background I'd done a few weeks ago with Paper Glaze and a stencil.
The white glaze puts me in mind of a candle.

So I die cut a berry branch from mixed media paper, my Distress Markers and waterbrush
and colored it up.

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I tried my hand at Stencil Monoprint again.
It still comes out very messy for me.
I have really enjoyed seeing all the crisp prints in the gallery at
CAS Mix Up.  Maybe one day, I'll get that result.  This time we'll just say
that I was looking for a impressionist look.

Gingham Trees

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have another twofer and just skidding in under the wire for
one challenge.

When I saw the mood board at the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge #3, I
knew I had to play along.

I had a couple of pieces of decorative paper in black and white checks and
a fun tree die that needed to see some action.

While looking for something to use for a background, I found this piece of
stencil monoprint in my background basket that worked great.

After I had die cut the stitched rectangle from it, I thought the leftover piece
would be perfect as a frame for another stencil monoprint that must have been
a first pull because it was darker.

So here's the twofer...

I think I like this one better.

Critters and Plaid

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have a couple of Christmas cards to share today.

First up is a couple of little critters from Penny Black that I've stamped and colored
with Copic Markers.

The image was a little too big for the die cut circle, so I cut around the end of
the scarf so it could hang out of the circle.

This is for the CAS Christmas challenge where Barb has chosen critters for the theme.

And a twofer....

A couple of weeks ago I went to play at my friend Nance's house.
She had some Paper Glaze from Picket Fence that she wanted me to try.
It is so creamy and has a lovely shine!

For this card I used a plaid stencil and the Mint Hydrangea glaze.

I've used this die cut spray colored with Copics and a beautiful bow that
a sweet friend sent me when I commented on how much I liked her bows.
(Needless to say I have this die on the way now. Thanks for the enabling Barb.)

I thought this was perfect for another entry into the Inspired By Challenge
for the second inspiration picture.  I was inspired by the soft green and
greenery with berries.

More Stencil Monoprint for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I have another stencil monoprint today.
There's still a week to join in at CAS Mix Up.

I've used Brushos again on this climbing vine stencil.  After sprinkling on the stencil
and spritzing with water, I flipped it over on a piece of mixed media paper
and pressed down.

I've added a narrow mat and a leafy vine die cut from an alcohol ink
background.  A stamped and embossed sentiment finished it off.

Our talented design team has some awesome inspiration for you
and there's lots more in the gallery.  I hope you'll go visit and do a
stencil monoprint.  Then join in with us at CAS Mix Up.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Snippets (PB)
Ink:   VersaMark
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah, Yupo
Other:  Mini Climbing Vine Stencil (TCW), Brusho, Simple Leaf Flourish Die (MFT), Alcohol Ink, Subtle EF (SU), Gold EP

Back to Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

With Christmas fast approaching, I'm back to doing Christmas cards.

This was Inspired By this lovely photo.

I love the kraft and white color scheme and reversed the colors of the tree and
snowflake beside the sign.  And I've addedtexture to the tree inspired
by the afghan on the couch and shiplap wall.

I love this champagne glitter paper. It sparkles but isn't as bright as the gold.

I've randomly used the WOW embossing pen on the tree and heat embossed
for a little added sparkle and shine.

You can see the sparkle better here.

Back to Fall

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I thought I'd take a break from Christmas cards.

I think chrysanthemums are so pretty in the Fall and I have a hard time
choosing between the button mums and daisy mums.

Today I choose the daisy mum and added a bit of burlap ribbon for
a rustic Fall feel.

I recently had a session or two watching video tutorials, die cutting and shaping flowers
using my NBUS dies from Susan's Autumn Flora collection.

I also used them to decorate these Dollar Store pumpkins for my
Craft Group swap.  I saved one of the daisy mums for my card.

Rustic Wreath

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The rush for getting Christmas cards done is on!
Fortunately there are lots of challenges out there that spur me on.

I used a retired Stampin' Up die for the wreath and a Penny Black die
for the greenery.  After coloring the greenery with Copics,
I found a snippet of plaid ribbon to tie up with string.

The sentiment is heat embossed on a sign hanging from the wreath.

Challenges:
