Poinsettias

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My favorite Christmas flower is the poinsettia.

I know that the red "petal" are the leaves of this beautiful plant and
the flowers are those tiny little blooms in the center.

This little poinsettia has been cut from a piece of Inka Gold smoosh in my stash
and added to a ring of leaves that were part of my win at last month's
Birthday Bash at the Flower Challenge.

It was so much fun shopping at The Ton and you haven't seen the last of
this sweet circle of leaves.

The photo doesn't do this justice.  We all know that our cameras don't
like to show shine.

Speaking of shine...

This poinsettia started out as foiling with a Glimmer plate on mixed media paper
and watercolored with Distress inks.

The frames and sentiment have been foiled too.

Then I added some leaves cut from gold foil cardstock.

In case you want to see the shine of the leaves, take a look...

Now I'd better slip over to this month's Flower Challenge with one of these.

I'm still undecided which it will be.

Two beautiful poinsettia cards Bonnie, and I love the pretty circle of leaves with the Inca Gold smooshed piece you used for the poinsettia, and the foiling on the second looks sensational and the double frame is so elegant and pretty, with lots of gold on the flowers and the added gold die cut leaves. x

Two fabulous poinsettia cards, Bonnie! The shine of the foil (both glimmer foiling and foil cardstock) and gold heat-embossing is amazing! And I love the pretty shimmer of the Inka Gold smooshed poinsettia. The circle of the leaves is so unique and beautiful. You did a great job of frame foiling! I know the nested rectangle frames are not always easy to get great results because of the thin lines.

Poinsettias are amazing how they'll produce these colorful leaf clusters on a plant that also has green leaves, and so many variations these days. Your cards are absolutely beautiful with the gold. Really love the leafy circle on the first card.

Wow, wow, wow! These cards are stunning Bonnie! I love that beautiful circle of leaves, so sweet, so elegant as is that poinsettia. Yep, I know too that the poinsettia parts are the leaves and the berries are the flowers, but it me the leaves are the flowers. lol Your second card is amazing, I don't know what the glimmer plate is, but I am sure loving this elegant and gorgeous card! The frames are so pretty, the poinsettia is so stunning-all the shimmer and shine....goodness, perfect for Christmas! Both of these cards just have my jaw on the floor! lol Hugs, Brenda

Both cards are beautiful - I really love the first one. So simple but yet it is not simple at all - just clean design work. Not to fussy and over decorated.
OMG - what perfect framing you did on the second card - you have mastered this technique for sure!!
