Flora and Fauna for the Birds

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A couple of weeks ago I shared a couple of cards using the Wplus9
Flora and Fauna 3 stamps.  You can see them here and here.

Today I'm sharing the results with the bird from this set.

This was not my first try, but perseverance won out to something usable.

I stamped with Antique Linen Distress ink and started coloring with Zigs.
I was struggling with the colors so I switched to my Altenew watercolors.  I still am
not satisfied with the large flower, but it's as good as it's going to get.

The next card is a CASE of a card by my friend Michele.
You can see it here.  She used Dawn's technique that you can see here.

I've tried this technique before with no success.  Michele suggested the Tim Holtz
mini mister and that did help a lot.

I inked the stamp with Distress Markers and spritzed before pressing onto
watercolor paper.  I used the MISTI so I could get multiple stampings.

Finally,

I tried the spritz technique with this bird and it didn't work.  So I re-inked the stamp with
Distress Markers and smooshed more ink on a palette to pick up and watercolor the image.
Thankfully, I was able to put this back in the MISTI for a re-do!

The flowers with this bird were barely passable and I had the brilliant idea to
add splatters.  Then I realized that snow would not be falling on  blooming cosmos.
So I fussy cut this bird out from the offending flowers and added some snowflakes
leftover from a past project.

That's five cards from this stamp set.
I had so much fun playing with it.
Thanks to Dawn of Wplus9 for restocking this stamp set.
She may need to restock again.

What a fantastic job you did with the watercolor technique on those birds! All three cards are so well done! I love that you persevered when things went wrong! So glad you did! Great work on these and I often share your frustrations.

I just love your perseverance and dedication to something you love... exactly how I felt about this darling bird and the Flora and Fauna 3 set he comes in, Bonnie.
All three cards are just lovely: the no-line watercolored look of card 1; the fun splash of color using Dawn's technique; and finally my favorite of all - you know how I feel about these sweet little Bluebirds. They don't mind snowflakes at all!
Gorgeous framing and embellishment, too!

All are simply beautiful! I love the no line watercoloring on that bird. I think my favorite is the first one with that striking black in the background. All are so pretty.

Michele is an enabler, isn't she?!! I'm so glad you persevered too Bonnie as all 3 cards are beautiful! Had to chuckle over your last card with the snow splatters on the flowers and deciding to ditch them for snowflakes instead...great save! Haha!! Seriously though, they're all so lovely my friend...great job!! Hugs. :0)

These are all great cards, Bonnie. I love the watercolor card and will go watch Dawn's video since I have a hard time with water coloring. My favorite is the last card with the blue bird and snowflakes.

I'm so glad you had fun playing with the stamp set, Bonnie, because you ended up with to many lovely cards. The no-line watercoloring is amazing. The CASE of Michele's card is so soft and lovely and I love the framing. Your bluebird looks happy enough sitting amongst the snowflakes. I had one this dark color on my feeder earlier this winter. I don't always think of white splatter as snow. Sometimes it's pollen. lol

Love all three and it sounds like you learnt a lot in the process. It also sounds like you have been a bit hard on yourself especially in relation to the first one. When I saw it, my first thought was what good no line colouring. Give yourself some credit, those flowers are gorgeous xx

Fabulous trio of cards, Bonnie. The first two are so lovely with the flowers but the third one is my favourite. That was a great save of the bird by fussy cutting it and tucking it in amongst snowflakes!

A true story of adventures in stamping! Thanks for sharing the process you went through with these three beautiful cards. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the large flower on the first card. It looks gorgeous and expertly colored. You did an amazing job with the coloring technique on the second card. I have the video bookmarked and have meant to try it. This stamp is gorgeous. I should have gotten it, sigh. Love how you framed the bird in the circle window. Your little blue bird looks right at home in the snowflakes and I love the white splatters. It's fun to read how you arrived at that card. It looks like it was meant to be right from the beginning. I love them all!

You've made this bird a real star in all your beautiful designs, Bon! And well done using so many stamps from the set. I agree that Dawn will need to restock it again after everyone sees what you've done with it! Hugs, Dolly

Wow, all three cards are fantastic, Bonnie! You and Michele are Queens of watercoloring of birds and flowers! So interesting to know how you changed directions to save your watercolored images. The bluebird looks pretty and peaceful in the snowflake "nest"!

Love all your birds - the first one looks so soft - like I could reach right out and pet her. and I love all the colors on this card. The second bird reminds me of the doves we have in our back yard. I also love the dark blue tucked into the white snow flakes. Even though there is a lot going on here with the embossed background and the die cut snow flakes - the card is what I would call clean and simple. Your eye goes straight for the bird. Bravo again Bonnie!

Wow, all three of these cards are gorgeous Bonnie! Michele is a great card maker that is for sure but so are you and your CASe of Michele card is beautiful! I've always longed to be able to do birds justice like you do, you stun me each time with your bird cards. And these three are no different. Well done you, you persevered and it paid off! These are beautiful results using this stamp set and some wonderful watercolouring Bonnie, and I love the black background with the bright colours on the first, and then the pretty soft more watery look on the second, and then lastly that bright blue bird with the pretty snowflake, and the designs are all very eye catching. x

Your perseverance sure paid off, These are all lovely. I think the big flower looks perfect on the first card. I like how you fussy cut him and placed the snowflakes around him on the 3rd card. TFS

Lovely cards, Bonnie. I love the first two cards for the beautifully painted flowers, but the third card just surprised me when you cut out this beautiful bird and placed it between the snowflakes. Surprising and beautiful!
