Circles and Magnolias

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Flower Challenge is celebrating their 100th Challenge .
Congratulations ladies! Keep up the good work!

It's taken me a while to get to this and the challenge is about to end.
Time goes by faster and evidently I go slower!

The Tulip Trees or Jane Magnolias are blooming in our area and they inspired
this card.  They are so pretty!  My flowers don't come close to the real thing.

A sweet friend gave me the Bubblin' die for Christmas and it was the perfect
way to add circles with my flowers.  I cut them from white cardstock. I
cut the flowers from watercolor paper and watercolored using Distress re-inkers..

The circles didn't show up as well as I wanted on the white card so I did a bit
of acetate smooshing on another piece of watercolor paper using the same colors
of re-inkers and lots of water.

I am willing to bet your flowers are just as pretty as those magnolias! I LOVE the circle element in the background too! Great way to incorporate them, especially with the pretty smooshed background! Just gorgeous!

Your magnolias are beautiful. You do such a great job water coloring with those distress inks and also with your smooshed backgrounds. Those linked circles are a great way to add interest to the background and are perfect for The Flower Challenge. I think I have that die also, but never thought of using it.

Bonnie, I sure wish I could be there for those magnolias! I just love North Carolina in the Spring - it would be better now that I know the way to your front door!
LOve the pinks and the wonderful watercolor way you've painted these - those bubbles are a very creative way to add circles!
We're so happy to have you join in as we celebrate out 100th challenge at The Flower Challenge! Thanks bunches, my friend!

I do like your pretty pink magnolias, Bonnie and sure would love to see the real deal in bloom! Fabulous card!

My folks had a tulip tree beside their house and it was beautiful when in blossom. Neighborhood kids would get their prom pictures taken beside it. Yours are equally beautiful, Bonnie, and I love what you did with the background. That bubble die was perfect for adding circles without distracting from the flowers. Thanks for sharing your card with us at The Flower Challenge.

One of the loveliest of your recent cards, Bonnie. Beautiful colouring and shading on the magnolias, and such a gorgeous soft background. I think the circles show up just fine - it's nice that they are subtle.

Absolutely beautiful, Bonnie! Stunning overall with your dreamy coloring, lovely background, and the circles which add even more interest while staying with a clean and soft look. There is a large purple tulip tree in our neighborhood which I think is on its last legs. Otherwise there are a surprising lot of Magnolia/Tulip Trees around here, not quite in bloom yet, but they are a sight to see. Almost as lovely as your card!

Your magnolia flowers are wonderful and I love the soft background with that circle die. They are just starting to flower in some sheltered spots over here. I do love them. It is so wonderful to see everything come to life and all the spring flowers putting on such a lovely show xx

Your magnolias are so beautiful! I love the shading you achieved with the watercolors. We live just a short distance from a huge park known primarily for its extensive lilac collection, but there's also a large number of magnolias which I love to photograph.

This is dreamy and magnificent and another one for your winner's book, Bon! I love the way you did your background to allow the circles to be just the right amount of visible behind your stunning flowers! Thank you for linking to this week's I.D.E.A.S. Calendar to inspire others! Hugs, Dolly

You don't give yourself enough credit, Bonnie, and you're equally modest! Your water coloring with reinkers is so well done and the bit of ink smooshing brings out the rings perfectly!

This is so elegant and beautiful Bonnie using these fabulous Magnolia flowers, and I love the die cut intertwined circles and the added soft colour on the smooshed background and finished with the contrast of the black die cut hello. x
