Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
I'm almost late to the party at Freshly Made Sketches this week.
I think I can squeak in.
Cécile offered this week's sketch. I rarely make a square card, but I thought it
would be fun for a change. Thanks for challenging me, Cécile.
On this first card, the leaves go a little over the edge but it will go in an A2 envelope
so I don't think that will be a problem.
I used a Penny Black die that has been in my collection for years.
After shaking the dust off, I die cut it twice from mixed media paper
and watercolored with Distress re-inkers.
I trimmed it down to fit behind and on top of the smaller square and layered
the two flowers to give more dimension.
While I was going through my dies I found a couple more that were pretty
dusty and actually had some leaves and flowers already cut in the pouch.
So I made another square card and added another layer to the sketch just for fun.
The flowers are watercolored and I sponged color on the leaves.

Bonnie, they are both so beautiful! I think that those square cards are the best fun just because we CAN leave those lovely bits beyond the boundaries of its shape as you've done with your leaves - happy times, indeed!
I love the way you've planted those darling little purple snippets, too - double the fun!
Thanks so much for playing along with us at FMS again, my friend! [fingers crossed for that linky to be seamless today!]

I love the simplicity of both cards, Bonnie! It lets those little blooms and leaves take center stage. Two marvelous makes!
I really like this style of card - so many cards and so little time!!!!
Sandy xx
Two lovely CAS square cards Bonnie. I like the way the leaves extend over the edge on the first card and that it will still fit an A2 envelope.
Those older PB stamps and dies should be used more often, Bonnie, because they make such beautiful cards. I don't usually do square but I like your idea of the leaves hanging off the edge and still fitting in an envelope.
So happy you had fun dusting off a few dies and putting them to great use Bonnie...both cards are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! And I like to make square cards once in awhile too...FUN! I think I like the purple one a tad better but they're both sooooooo pretty! Well done my friend!! Hugs. :0)
Both are just beautiful! You have a knack with florals and these do not disappoint! Works of art!
A very elegant and feminine first card, my dear Bonnie. Square cards have a calm and balanced quality to them. I think I find exactly that in your card, calm and balanced, despite the asymmetrical arrangement of the floral elements. In the second card I love how the delicate stamping is an extension of the cut-out branches you have placed underneath. An amazing design, perfectly thought out. You have a natural gift for creating harmonious compositions, my dear Bonnie.
hugs,

Just lovely and a great take on the sketch xx
I love square cards and make quite a few of them so I'm always happy to get inspiration from others for square card ideas. Your second card has really made me think about not always having the squares perfectly centred - love the way you've offset the centre square!! Both cards have fabulous die cuts and great designs.
As you have probably already guessed square cards are my go to shape and the square mats go perfectly, and some very pretty different flowers and leaves on both, and the bit of residue ink from the colouring on the background mat on each card coordinates perfectly Bonnie, and the same inked sentiment to finish each..beautiful designs. x
Two very beautiful cards with such gorgeous die-cuts! I hear you about the dusty dies (hangs head in shame) :) Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
I love your take on the sketch, Bon, and your beautiful florals and coloring on both sharp designs! You always make layering look so effortless which awes me because I spend tons of time putting things this way and that way and this way ... ! Thank you for using this week's I.D.E.A.S. Calendar and linking in the gallery to motivate others!📌Hugs, Dolly
Two great cards, and congrats on dusting off those bunnies! I hear Darnell might help you dispatch them, if needed... It's also fun when we step out of our comfort zone and go for the square!
Oh these are such beautiful CAS designs! Thanks a lot for joining us at FMS this week.
Love your takes on the sketch, so pretty.
Nothing "square" about these square cards. I like both of the designs with the leaves behind. You've added to my housework now. I didn't realize I should be dusting off my dies.
Twice as nice with these beautiful CAS square cards! They're fun for a change and you've made them so pretty! Those oldie dies work just as good as ever!
Both are absolutely beautiful cards!
Thank you for joining our challenge at The Neglected Stuff!

Two beautiful cards using this great sketch. I love the way you've added your die-cut leaves to the background and have them overflowing to the front of the square. Both cards have beautiful die-cut and coloured flowers, but I do especially love the tall purple flowers with the soft stamping in the background.
Great work Bonnie!! I do not follow this challenge blog, but I LOVE this sketch and will definitely give it a go. Love, Lolly
