Santa's Sleigh

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My Christmas stash needs to grow faster!

The CAS Christmas challenge is helping to take care of that.  This month, Julia has asked
for Christmas cards with Santa's sleigh.

I remembered this Tim Holtz die that hasn't seen a lot of use and got that out.

The CAS Mix Up Challenge is asking for stenciling on patterned paper.  I found
this piece of patterned paper and cut the Santa and sleigh off to add this one.
First I used stencil paste to add some stars to the paper and sprinkled the wet paste
with fine glitter.

I've added some silver glitter paper for a little extra magic.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - R is for Rectangles
CAS Christmas - Santa's Sleigh
CAS Mix Up - Stenciling over Patterned Paper

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Silver Glimmer, Christmas Watercolor (Scrapbook Customs), Black
Other:  Mini Slayering Stencil Set #31 (TH), Embossing Paste (Wendy Vecchi), Dash Away All die (TH), Special Merry Christmas die (MB), Glitter

Enjoy!

Fit for a Sketch

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Remember on Friday when I said I still had some die cut geraniums
and a big set of Ohuhu markers to try?  They went together like peas and carrots
as Forrest Gump would say!

First I arranged them in one cluster but when it came to putting them on a card,
I was stumped.  So I carefully disassembled them.  When I saw Verena's sketch
at Freshly Made Sketches, I had an AHA moment and this is what I came up with.

Here's here sketch...

My "circles" are arranged a bit differently, but hopefully you can see that sketch.

I found that using a flicking motion worked best with the markers on the Neenah.
I love the details that the dies leave on the petals and leaves.

What happened to the other blooms?  I'll share that one at a later date.
I wouldn't want you to get sick of seeing geraniums over here.

Do check with Freshly Made Sketches and enjoy the
wonderful inspiration from the Design Team and in the Gallery.
If you hurry, you can still get a card in this challenge.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sending You (Creek Bank Creations)
Ink:   Morning Mist (VC)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Pink Pirouette
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums (PTI), Charming Flora Cover Die (AS), Nesting Slim Labels (FMS), Ohuhu alcohol markers (R22, R23, R28, G310, G410, E46), Caran d'ache Supracolor pencil (Dk. Carmine)

Enjoy!

Geraniums for Fun

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's Friday again.  The weeks fly by!
This week I've been playing with the geranium dies from Papertrey Ink.

I posted this card earlier this week, but I wasn't through with it.

I had a few die cut blooms left from the previous card.  They needed a home, and
I needed a Thinking of You card.

This time I cut the blooms from colored cardstock, added a bit of sponging for
dimension and added to a pretty die cut that the same friend who gave the
geranium die also gave me.  I have the best friends!

For this card, I cut the blooms from a background made by smooshing
Brushos and water.  It's almost too concentrated so I added splatters. (I
also added splatters to my glasses too! LOL)

I still have some die cut petals and a big set of Ohuhu markers to try.
So many fun toys, so little time!

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Thinking of You (PB)
Ink:   Nocturne (VC)
Paper:   Watercolor (Alt), Neenah Solar White, Black
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums, Border Bling die (PTI), Distress re-inkers (barn door, rustic wilderness), White Nuvo Drops

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Just Sentiments: Birthday (PTI)
Ink:   Rainforest, Parsley, Grapefruit, Buttercup, Pimento (C9)
Paper:   Nectar, Eucalyptus (C9), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums, Love to Layer: Soft Ridges (both PTI), Lattice die (no name)

Card Recipe (card 3)
Stamps:  Faith (PB)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Butterscotch (GKD)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Mixed Media with Brusho
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums, Love to Layer: Soft Ridges (both PTI), Graceful Butterfly die & EF set (SSS)

Enjoy!

CASEing Bobby

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The challenge at Just Us Girls this week is to CASE (Copy And Share Everything).
I chose Bobby's card to CASE...

I had just taken last month's calendar page down and since it's the same flower
that Bobby used, it seemed to be perfect for a CASE of Bobby's card.

The flowers are the same and the basic layout.  I've used different colors, different
framing and embossing instead of inking in the background.  Oh, and I added a
tiny butterfly too.  Thanks for the inspiration, Bobby!

The flowers had been stamped with Toffee Crunch ink and colored with Copics.

I die cut the flowers and frame, embossed the center of the frame and doubled
the outside.  Then I added a Betterpress sentiment and butterfly.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #834 - CASE a DT (Bobby)
Penny Black Saturday - ATG using Penny Black/option of Things with Wings

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Garden Trio (PB)
Ink:   Memento Toffee Crunch, Betterpress Black
Paper:   Fresh Freesia, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Garden Trio Cut Outs (PB), Waves die (PB), Linked EF (PB), Subtle EF (ret SU), Caran d'ache Supracolor pencil (Lilac), Micron Pen

Enjoy!

Geranium Prayer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A sweet friend treated me for my birthday and since this was top of my list,
it was her treat and I have really been enjoying it!

When I saw Kim's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #747 last week, these blooms fit
right in and they were sitting on my table ready to go. I went topsy, turvy with the sketch.
I hope Kim doesn't mind.  Here's the sketch...

I die cut them from Altenew watercolor paper.  It's the package with individual sheets
and I find it's perfect for die cut flowers.  The blooms were watercolored
with Distress Re-inkers and assembled when dry.

The embossed background was in one of my birthday cards and set aside for the
perfect place to add it.

I'm also sharing with Darnell's NBUS #89 (where I was one of the lucky winners of her
Mutual Appreciation Celebration last month.  It didn't take long to cash in that GC.
Thank you for your inspiring challenge and support, my friend.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Praying for You Sentiments II (PTI)
Ink:   Nocturne (VC)
Paper:   Watercolor (ALT), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Into the Blooms: Geraniums (PTI), Distress Re-inkers (Festive Berries, Candied Apple, Barn Door, Twisted Citron, Rustic Wilderness, Pine Needles), Praying for You Sentiments II die (PTI)

Enjoy!

Navy and Teal for Color Hues

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We have a new challenge at Color Hues.

This month Karen picked our colors.  She chose....

I have been practicing my stenciling.  I'm still not quite there, but...

I'm getting closer.  Using the Misti really helps, thanks to the tip my
friend Michele gave me.

I used two shades of Teal and one of Navy to do the stenciling.
Then I embossed the design and embossed the Teal background too.

Now let's go and see what my talented friends and our
fantastic Guest Designer Rachel Ball have done to inspire you.

I hope you'll create a card using Navy & Teal and add it to the gallery at

Challenge ends at 9:00 AM on August 14th.

The winners will be posted an hour before our next challenge and the overall
winner will have the opportunity to be a future Guest Designer.

Most importantly, just have fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:   Sea Glass, Tranquil Teal (GKD), Chipped Sapphire (DI)
Paper:  Tranquil Teal, Navy, Neenah Solar White
Other:  Pretty Picado Stencil & EF, Capsule Basics die (both Grtry), Giggle Hello die (SSS)

Sunflower Hope

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Didn't this week go fast?  This week my Fun project was using some
leftover pieces and the dies from earlier in the week.

This time I used the whole sunflower and I'm still loving this Concord & 9th ink
and cardstock!

The embossed background was to test the embossing folder when it came.
It seemed a perfect fit for the sunflower and a piece of the cardstock left from
the previous sunflower card.

I recently sent a card to a friend who was facing upcoming surgery.  It had
the word hope on it.  She told me that it was just what she needed.  I'll have this
card ready for the next person I hear of that needs some hope.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Faith, Hope, Love (PB)
Ink:   Buttercup, Parsley, Rainforest (C9)
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Buttercup
Other:  Sunflower Serenade dies (SB), Distress Mix EF (SB)

Enjoy!

Eclipse Butterfly

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Do you like optical illusions?  If so, this technique is for you.

CAS Mix Up is asking for Eclipse cards this month.  I don't know about you, but I often
need to stop and really look to see the subtle die cutting on these cards. I've done this
technique before with words and numbers.  I was wondering about using a shape instead.

So I picked some pretty floral patterned paper and die cut a butterfly from the
center, glued some foam behind him, and popped him back in.

He's really hard to spot.  Maybe this angle shows him better?

Let's go over to see what other ways this technique was used.  The fabulous Design Team
has wonderful examples and inspiration and there are some links to tutorials too.

And I used some of that hoard of patterned papers!

Challenges:
CAS Mix Up - Eclipse Technique
Love Those Pretty Papers - ATG using pretty patterned papers

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Everyday Sentiments (SB)
Ink:   Whisper White
Paper:  Flowers in Garden (AZ), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Stitched Butterfly Trio (PS), Notched Corner Frames (PFS), White EP

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

So I have another sunshiny card.

for the scale of this card.

Sunflower Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Another new week.  I hope you had a lovely weekend with some crafty time.

I had a play with some new to me ink and paper.

I die cut Sunflower Serenade from Neenah Solar white and used
Buttercup ink from Concord & 9th to add color to the petals.
I am really happy with the color and how it blends.

I used their Eucalyptus and Rainforest ink for the leaves and to stamp
the sentiment and was happy with how the ink works with stamps too.

The base of the card and outer circle were cut from Buttercup cardstock.

The inner circle is new to me too and Jen's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches
gave me the perfect opportunity to try it out.

What's your favorite kind of ink?

Challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches #746 - See sketch below
NBUS #88 Mutual Appreciation Challenge- Never Before Used Schtuff - Decorative Circle die
Seize the Birthday #331 - Square Card & Not White Base (or ATG Birthday)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Many Everyday Messages (HA)
Ink:   Buttercup, Eucalyptus, Rainforest (C9), Early Espresso (SU)
Paper:   Buttercup (C9), Milk Chocolate (MFT), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Sunflower Serenade dies (SB), Spotlight on Nature die SU), Infinity Circle die (HA), Burlap EF (HB)
