Lilac

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

A while back Spellbinders had some things on sale that I couldn't pass up.

This lilac die set was one of them.

I have a wonderful memory of lilacs when I was growing up.  The lilac thickets were
perfect for us to play in when we were small. The smell was heavenly and the colors
were so pretty.

I've tried to grow lilacs in North Carolina but didn't have much luck.
This die set brings back the look.  I still miss the smell.

Susan Tierney-Cocburn's how to video about using this die was very helpful.  Susan's
suggestion to dab ink on the paper before die cutting worked great.  I used two shades
of purple and a finger dauber on some of Susan's Garden Specialty paper before cutting.

This paper makes it very easy to shape each of the little blooms.  Sticking them down
was a but if a challenge but well worth the effort.

It's definitely a hand delivery card but I have someone in mind.

Challenges:
Colorful Options -  I was inspired by the lilacs in the top left corner
The Flower Challenge #101 - Use Spring Colors
NBUS #73 - Lilac Die

Card Recipe
Stamps: Heartfelt (PB)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black, Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Rustic Wilderness, Brushed Corduroy (DI)
Paper:  Neenah Solar White Susan's Garden Specialty (SB)
Other:  Lilac die (SB), Cut & Stitch Circle die (PB)

Enjoy!

Your lilacs are beautiful. I bet it was time consuming putting together all those little flowers but it was worth it. That is a great tip about dabbing ink on the paper before die cutting, I will have to remember that. Have a great weekend, my friend.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Lilacs Bonnie! My mom had Lilac bushes when I was growing up and had to have them at my house too! The leaves are just starting to bud, so I sure hope we're done with Winter and I can have a full bush this year! But anyway, the 3D look of your Lilacs is so pretty and I love the circle aperture behind the Lilacs too! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

Oh WOW!!! Your card is fabulous. First go for the design - beautiful background that surrounds the Lilacs. And the Lilacs are so soft while adding a 3D punch. How well the back ground and flowers go
together - kind of like ice cream and cake. I think color is the third ingredient, kind of like frosting on the cake. Beautiful different shades of violet. Outstanding Miss Priss - you win first prize today!

Fabulously gorgeous! Love the dimension, especially since it involved you having to fidget with the many beautiful petals -- this is one doozy!

Hand delivery?? I'll be waiting on the front porch! Just incredible, Bonnie! Your placement of those little individual bits is so perfect!
I do love the purples but OH the white ones are fabulous, too, aren't they?

I'm so sorry you can't grow lilacs - they are one of the spring highlights in my garden (their flower buds starting to grow so it won't be long before they bloom). Your card is gorgeous - love the shades of purple and all the little die cuts - you sure were patient putting all that together!

The coloring is perfect for a lilac branch, Bonnie. Her flower dies are so realistic but I don't hand deliver much so don't buy them.

You know we share a deep love of lilacs and an inability to grow them, so I am so struck by the incredibly realistic look you achieved with your coloring, Bon! I'm delighted to hear you are going to hand-deliver this card to me. Don't forget to let me know your plane arrival time! Hugs, Dolly

Oh, how beautiful your perfectly shaded lilac bloom is! So lovely set against the decorative stitched circle. My mom's fragrance was lilac and I always think of her when I catch its scent.

Lilacs are my favorite flower and, my goodness, do I love what you've done with this marvelous sprig! Yo'uve captured the colors beautifully, Bonnie and the frame is pretty fabulous too. I've tried to grow them here in Ohio without much luck, but I refuse to give up!

I love the smell of lilac too. I don't have any in my garden, but I seek them out when I am on my morning walk so that I can smell them. They are not quite out yet, but it won't be long. Your lilac looks so lifelike, it's great xx

This is such a realistic lilac flower Bonnie and such a painstaking job adding all those flowers but so worth it as the finished bloom looks terrific, and such a great idea to add the colour to a piece of card and then die cut, and the cut and stitch circle white on white makes a fabulous backdrop, and finished with the black stamped sentiment which has a really lovely font. I can just imagine how wonderful it would be to be surrounded by lots of lilac trees and the heavenly smell. x

This is so beautiful and looks real! I’m glad that I came to your blog to see it! I can’t imagine how long it took to cut all of those tiny florets and glue them in place. It would look lovely in a frame.

Oh my friend, this is GORGEOUS!!! You've done an amazing job with all those little petals ... BEAUTIFUL!! I'm hoping my Lilac survived this last cold snap we've been having. It was all in bud the last I looked ... almost afraid to look now since it's been back below freezing again. Fingers crossed the close to the house location protected it enough. Don't you love it when our crafting hobby brings back wonderful childhood memories!!
Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Four Seasons Challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back again soon.
