I had a special treat last week. My friend Nanc' (Scrapper@heart) came for a visit.
It was a real treat to meet her in person! We spent some crafty time sharing some dies,
embossing folders, press plates and stamps. I cut some of Nanc's Kokeshi dolls
dies and I've had so much fun putting them together. It brought back memories of
happy times playing with paper dolls when I was a kid.
My first doll is a CASE of another friend Michele's card. I pressed the background
by inking the plate with Warm Glow ink. The doll itself was cut from various
colors of cardstock.
Somehow I missed die cutting the little fan and went on a hunt for a
substitution in the studio. I found a bag of colored feathers I'd bought at
the thrift store and made feather fans.
For this card, I pressed the parasols with Watering Can Archival ink. It came out
much darker than I wanted so I pressed it on a new piece of cardstock without re-inking.
Much better!
I framed her up with a Scrolled Punch & Pierce piece that I had cut previously.
I love when I find something that works for a card without much effort!
Lastly.....and my favorite of them all....
I cut some pieces from watercolor paper and adorned the dress with an
embossing folder and gold foil trim for a more elegant feel.
I found a piece of patterned paper that I thought worked well and added
some gold foil strips to ground her.
I'm going to take this last card to a couple of Darlene and Diane's challenges.

I love any thing oriental. I always have a book going and I do prefer something with a China or Japanese theme.
Your dolls are precious - beautifully done. I like the second one the best.

Two treats: one having Nancy visit and the second to get to play with those darling dolls! I am humbled by your CASE, Bonnie and just love her little feathered fan! They are all three just fabulous! I love that gold marbling!

Your favorite is my favorite too Bonnie, but seriously, I love all 3 of these cards! Your color and pp choices are fabulous on all 3 and the feathers were a great addition! So glad you got to meet Nanc' too...she is definitely a special lady!! Hugs. :0)
How can you pick a favorite?! I'm in love with the little dolls and you certainly made three great cards with them. The fans pp is a great addition, but your gold marbled paper is pretty special too. These are all so sweet, Bonnie
I totally get it's like playing with paper dolls, Bonnie, and you dressed them to the nines, especially the gold trimmed one. So glad you got to spend some time with Nancy. I wish there was a place we could all get together sometime.
ALL of the cards are so adorably CUTE and how clever to make the feather fans! Nothing like having a friend over to have a day in your creative room!!

Was it McCalls that had paper dolls each month on the last page? These are so adorable and you dressed them up so well. I do love those feather fans. How wonderful you got to meet Nanc in person AND get to stamp together. Fun for sure.
Oh, how wonderful it is to have a crafty friend visit! And look what came of it -- such pretty adorableness! Beautifully designed cards, and the feather-fans made them even more special. I sure do remember paper dolls. I enjoyed cutting my own from the Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs.
These are all so cute. Love how you designed each one. Your favorite is also my favorite. She looks so elegant in the white with gold trim and that background paper is perfect. Glad you and Nancy had a great visit and fun crafting time together.

First off: Lucky you to have time to create with Nancy! I've been lucky enough to have had lunch with her, but crafting time? That's the best! Your dolls are all lovely, and your creativity was right at hand with finding the feathers. But, like you, my fave is the last one. It's the gold foil that puts it over the top for me!

I guess I distracted you with our chitchat and you missed cutting out the fan, but what a wonderful opportunity to make these your own. I can't pick a fav, I love them all! I love the two different style of dolls and the pretty dresses and hair adornments Bonnie, and the parasol press plate makes a brilliant background with the two different die cuts you added. I love the marbled paper on the last and a great idea to use the different coloured feathers as a substitute fan on each of the cards. How lovely to have Nanc come to craft with you a wonderful photo of you both together. x
