I have another Christmas card. Christmas will be here before we know it!
The Jingle Belles Challenge nearly stumped me this time.
It's 12 Days of Christmas.
I thought of this Impression Obsession Dove Die and went with
Two Turtle Doves.
I had some snippets of textured pearlized cardstock in with the dies. That
worked for cutting the dies.
The background piece is one I started at the ESCR retreat. We glued
some torn pieces of book pages (gasp) on cardstock and covered with gesso.
Can't see those pages? Neither can I, but I know this started out that way.
I added some watercoloring. It was too dark. So I added some gesso.
Then I added some stamping. Too dark. x#%r. More gesso.
I'm going to try this again, Hopefully with more success!
The ribbon is a teeny strip cut with my Cutterpillar.
I love how I can get that little twist.
I'm also going to add this to
ANYTHING GOES: Must have stamping
adding too at ABC Christmas Challenge
S is for Sparkle, T is for Texture
I don't have sparkle, but lots of texture.
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

Such a lovely card, Bonnie, Jo x
What a beautiful card Bonnie! Love the two doves and the ribbon, and your background is GORGEOUS!! Would never have known you were stumped by this challenge!! Lovely, lovely card!! :0)
The turtle doves are so pretty Bonnie, and thanks for explaining how you got there. The blue is beautiful and love the way it us layered with the script and the gesso, and the music score, and you really can see some writing in the background, and also that very thin red strip works well for the birds to carry. A wonderful card. x
Such a beautiful background for your peaceful doves, Bonnie!!
Loving this card Bonnie, and the background did finally 'work', or at least it looks that way to me :)
Blessings
Maxine
Beautiful card and portrays Peace beautifully.

Such a peaceful card...and reassuring to know my card making idol (that be you!) struggles with things at times...makes me feel normal. Love the pearlized textured paper for the doves and the red ribbon strip and the creative background result.
Love the background with those beautiful doves. So very lovely

So pretty and I love the doves. Very cool to use c/s for the ribbon.
LOve your turtle doves, Bonnie … especially in their snippet of silver! You mixed media girls just amaze me - another new-to-me pages trick! Think Tom would notice a few pages missing from his piano books? ha!
A beautiful card!

well of course the turtle doves are very handsome indeed (not to mention the white space surrounding them and the multi-color stamped sentiment!) but truly the very first thing i noticed and wanted to try was making a background as cool as that!!!!!!! so happy you helped us celebrate the 12 days of xmas at JINGLE BELLES! ♥
After you mentioned it I see the book type print in the background in a couple of places. Gorgeous background piece overall and a wonderful card!
Love this Bonnie! The background is amazing and I also really like the twist in your ribbon (it's the little things isn't it!) Also can you teach me how to pronounce x#%r as I feel it would be useful!
Loving that mixed media background Bonnie and those Doves are peaceful and your card is beautiful x.
I don’t understand why you think you were unsuccessful, Bonnie. The brilliant mix media background is beautiful and really help make those gorgeous textured pearlized die cut turtledoves stand out even more. Way to put Gesso to work. Thanks for the reminder of the torn book page panel we did at the retreat... need to figure something out with mine. xx
LOVE this card. Your layered background is fantastic, Bonnie. Adding gesso to lighten and then adding more colour and stamping ... it's so beautiful. It shows off the doves perfectly. Love the two-tone sentiment. xx
I got a chuckle out of your post only because I know we all can relate to things not going as planned. But I have to say, that fabulous background caught my eye right away and thank you for describing the process. It's not too dark at all and is perfect for the white doves- great contrast. I loved the random stamping on there. And I must remember to use gesso more often. I would be delighted to have created that background!
I think your background is a perfect success ... and a perfect back drop for those turtle doves ... so glad you celebrated the 12 Days of Christmas with us at Jingle Belles.
Absolutely Beautiful with lovely texture, unique background, wonderful ribbon and perfect sentiment, Bonnie. I love how your piece from our retreat added such amazing texture. I still haven't finished my piece into a card...you are inspiring me as always, my friend. Love and Hugs..Nancy
Beautiful card and I love how the doves are carrying the ribbon. xxx
Fabulous mixed media background .... love the doves too. I think I need to make a start on some Christmas cards. Thank you for playing along with the Craft Stamper challenge xx
I haven't used gesso on a card but I'm glad you kept with it, Bonnie. The background for the doves is wonderful.
What a special card with the two tone sentiment stamping. Now lets get to that BG, I mean it was meant for those lovely doves. A piece of art, that gesso really worked under your special touch. xx
What a gorgeous Christmas card, Bonnie! Love your beautiful background and the doves look great flying across it. Love the font too.
Thanks for sharing with us at ABC Christmas Challenges.
Hugs
