Foiling for Christmas

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Last week I zoomed with friends and we did some simple foiling.

I got two cards made from that session.

First up...

A super simple technique.  Just crumple that thin foil in your hands and
splatter a little "snow". It made a great background for Santa and his sleigh!

A better look at the shine...

I love how it looks like hills in the background!

Another technique.

This time I used a sticky sheet mounted on a piece of cardstock.  I left the backing
on and die cut with this mistletoe die.  Then I peeled off the backing from the leaves and
burnished with green foil. I did the same thing with the berries using a tiny piece of
red foil.

I had a new embossing folder that I used for the background and the sentiment is
heat embossed with gold and mounted on another little piece of red foil adhered
to cardstock with the sticky paper.

These are both wonderful Bonnie but I must confess to being VERY attracted to the first as it seems from your description to be quite simple (and you know I am a QUACAS kind of a gal!) So effective too! Vicky x

Love the blue foil scrunched in the background on the first card and the holly is very pretty on the 2nd.

The Santa scene is just fantastic. Splattering the snow made the scene so real. I love that. The mistletoe is beautiful and just shines. That was a great zoom.

Wonderful cards. Love the look of foil, but would never think of crumpling it up! I am always trying to be extra careful not to crinkle it! 😂 It does give a cool background effect especially with the splatters!

Two fabulous foiled looks Bonnie, and love the idea of crumpling it which looks great as the background to the white die cut scene with Santa on his sleigh, and the the beautiful green foiled mistletoe with red berries and bow, perfectly foiled and I love the embossed background too. x

That is some amazing shine on your first card and I totally saw the mountains before I even read your remark about it. Way cool! Another technique for your mistletoe and it looks amazing, too! Making progress on your Christmas cards -- yay!

What simple techniques that have produced such AMAZING results Bonnie! Between you and Loll I'm getting the urge to get my foils out and actually play with them! The crumpled foil behind Santa really does look like mountains and really pops against against all that white! And your shimmery Mistletoe looks FABULOUS! Two lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)

I bought some foil and there it sits. I guess I need some lessons. That crumpled foil is beautiful and does look like mountains, Bonnie. I'm not sure how you attached it to your card without flattening it out. I do have that mistletoe die and some greenish foil. I may stop what I'm doing and try it before I forget.

Two beautiful foiled Christmas cards Bonnie. I especially love that gorgeous deep blue that you crinkled behind your winter scene. The colour and shine is amazing! Mistletoe and berries are beautiful too. Was a fun session with lots of chatting! :) xx

Wow -- I do see the hills on your first card! What a wonderful technique! The die is just gorgeous in front of it too.
And the die cuts -- another wonderful trick with foiling that I haven't done, I'm just not good foiling with heat, so maybe I could handle this one - lol!

The first card has such an amazing contrast! This deep shade of blue and white look so amazing. Still wondering what foil did you use for this card? Is it a transfer foil for gilding ?? WOW !!
The second card is very elegant and I love all the elements gilded, especially the red berries.

The crumpled foiled sky is gorgeous and eye-catching, Bonnie! The white die-cut scene looks so crisp and beautiful against the shiny blue.
The shiny mistletoe is so pretty, especially with the subtle embossed pattern in the background! You sent me a mistletoe die cut-out a while ago, and I liked it so much that I bought the die-set! ;-)
