Magnetic Bookmarks

Our Papercrafting group met on Wednesday.  This month's project was magnetic bookmarks.  These are the projects that we worked on.

Simple stamping and embossing with the Bigshot are favorite techniques.

When the bookmark is removed, There is still a lovely card to enjoy.

There are magnetic strips to hold the book on the page.

How Many Stamps?

Last week's One Layer Wednesday card was to make a one layer card using as many different stamps as you can.  You must use at least three; more is better!

The flowers are two step stamping so I used 2 for each flower and 2 for each stem.  Is that over counting?  Then I used the large stamp from the Just Believe, the butterflies from Clearly for You and the Sentiment.  That's seven stamps.

I stamped the tall flowers first using Blushing Bride for the base color and Peach Parfait for the overstamping. The stems are Pear Pizzazz (both the base and overstamp). I masked the pink flowers and inked the large stamp from Just Believe with markers, using Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.  The butterflies were stamped in Calypso Coral and I drew in traced the antennae and body with my Basic Black marker.  I added some dots of More Mustard to the center of the big flowers and Peach Parfait to the smaller ones.

I used the Stamp-a-majig a lot for this card!  I've used it so much, I'm even beginning to feel comfortable with it.

I rounded the bottom right corner.  Then I covered it up with my watermark.  Not smart!

I just noticed that in the picture, the sentiment looks crooked.  IRL it looks straight.  Ah, the miracles of photography.  Usually it's the other way around!

Circles, Circles, Circles

Susan's One Layer Challenge last Wednesday was to use at least FIVE circles on our one layer card.  None of these circles could be punched or die cut.

Man, I wish I bought those Delicate Doilies or Circle Circus stamp sets.  But I didn't and as usual, my mind went blank.

But my eyes lit on the Clearly for You set and guess what I saw?  Circles.  Lots and lots of circles.  Circle berries with circle seeds.

Then I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about this card.  I couldn't get it out of my head.  About 3:00 am, I realized what was niggling my mind.  There are 4 berry bushes.  It's an even number. The rule is uneven numbers.  It's probably going to drive Susan crazy!   Sorry, but after 4 tries to get to this point, it's staying like this.

I masked off he area to be stamped with sticky notes, inked the stamp with markers and stamped using my Stamp-a-majig.  Then I went back and stamped some extra leaves.  I dipped my sponge in the Pool Party ink pad to sponge around the berries, scored 1/8" above and below the image and stamped the sentiment.

Let's Sketch

Can you believe that Less is More is a year old?  What a wonderful year it's been with this challenge.  So much inspiration and friendships have come my way since joining in.  Thanks ladies for coming up with such a wonderful variety of challenges for us each week.

I had this embossed heart from the Floral Fillers set on my table and looked for a way to use it for

the challenge which this week is a SKETCH and there are some basic ground rules.

We would like the card to be

rectangular

                                                                            in landscape orientation
                                                                            with the band remaining in a vertical position

As it's a very simple sketch, we would like it to remain as is without any rotation of either the card or the vertical band.

I really love this sketch and think I will  use it often.

Raspberry Row

Last Friday, SCS honored k dunbrook as Queen for the Day.  Go on over and take a look at her amazing gallery.  Be prepared to be awed!  She's also the nicest lady with lovely comments and encouragement.  She definitely deserves to be queen, not for a day, but for at least a week.  (Since I didn't get my cards in yet, we really need to call it a week!)

Here's the first card I CASEd  from this card of Karen's.

This also fits for the Just Add Ink #61 challenge to just use stamps and cardstock.  No DSP, ribbon, buttons, die cuts, or punches.

Do you really think that's ribbon?  Nope!  It's a strip of Rich Razzleberry, stamped with the dots from the For All You Do set.  I hope heat embossing is allowed.  The white didn't show up as well as I'd hoped, so I embossed.

I inked the raspberries with the Melon Mambo marker then thumped with Rich Razzleberry and inked the stems with Pear Pizzazz.  The sentiment is from the retired Bird on a Branch set.

Elements Clearly for You

I don't usually combine too many challenges. I tend to confuse myself and sometimes overdo a card.

But I think that I managed 3 challenges with this card!

First the Saturday Sketch Challenge #191 from Stamping 411.  Here's the sketch....

I really like the simplicity of this sketch.  I had to reverse it because when I stamped the tile design across the back panel, there was a teeny tiny line of white between two stampings.  I thought it worked fine reversed and when I can cover a boo boo, I'm happy!

The CAS 107 challenge on SCS this week is to make your own background.  The strip across the card is my handmade background.  I've gotta tell you, that Stamp-a-ma-jig is getting a workout and the more I use it, the more accurate I get.... sometimes anyway.

Also on SCS today's Color Challenge #311 is to use Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum & Rose Red.  That plum just wasn't working in.  I tried to add some to the flowers, but it just didn't look right.  I ended up sponging some Perfect plum around the edges of my white space.  It's very subtle, but it's there!

There, that's 3 challenges!  Now I've just got to remember to drop it off at the challenge sites!

I used my SU markers to ink the hummingbird and some of the flowers and leaves from the Elements of Style set.  I added some ink with the blender pen to the flowers.

Razzleberry Raspberries

I always thought of raspberries when I saw the Rich Razzleberry card stock.  So when I saw these little raspberries in the Clearly for You set, I had to match them up.

The raspberries sat on my table for a few days because  I couldn't find a layout that I liked for them.  Then I saw the Clean&Simple FTL #126 challenge and it kind of came together.

Here's the layout.......

I had to add some scallops on the bottom of the design to get the right proportion. 

Those little raspberries were difficult to find a place for.  I'll have to have a go with them again one day soon.

Breezy Baha

The color challenge on SCS this week is to use Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz & Bravo Burgundy.  While Baja & Pear are among my favorite colors, Bravo Burgundy rates way down there with Basic Gray.

It worked very well for this birdcage from the Nature Walk set that's now available in the Occasions Mini catalog.

I used the flower from this set and inked it with markers and stamped several times before re-inking.  I turned the stamp a bit each time to simulate the flowers blowing in the breeze.  Dessert this week is to be able to use "Bravo",  "Pizzazz", or "Breezes" as a description for our card.  Mine is breezy.  I could also use Bravo for using Burgundy!

One of the birds from the Clearly for You set (also in the Occasions Mini), inked in Baja, is stamped "in" the bird cage with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

I used a favorite CAS layout for this.  I seem to be stuck on this layout this week but it keeps on pleasing me.

Clearly Blissful

This card was inspired by a card I saw on My Paper Secret blog.  Cristina is so talented and I always love seeing what she has come up with.  I loved her card with the punched out heart and wanted to give it a try.

This is what I came up with.....

I wanted to do card for  Just Add Ink #51  to Just Add Monochrome and this layout just fit in with that challenge.

I used my Full Heart Punch on the bottom third of a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White.  Because I was chicken about getting the design lined up just right under the heart, I stamped the flourish on a scrap piece of Whisper White and adhered it to the card base under the cut out.  This flourish is a sneak peek from the SALE-A-BRATION catalog.  You can get this set, Bliss, free with a $50.00 purchase.  But you have to wait 7 more days!  Being able to pre-order these sets is one advantage of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!

I used the whacked Finial Press Embossing Folder across the top again.  You may remember I used this on a card that I posted yesterday.  I also punched the little heart from an embossed piece.

The front piece is attached to the Whisper White card base with dimensionals.

Clearly a Challenge

Hello Creative People.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I got to stamp with my friends in Roanoke Rapids and we had a really good time.

Today I have 2 posts, if my computer will cooperate!  First up is this....

The Just Add Ink #50 challenge was to use these colors...

Elegant Eggplant and Riding Hood Red????? 

Then I wanted to do a card for the Clean & Simple Fall to Layout #122 challenge.  This is the layout they gave.

I flipped the layout because this card just needed to go vertical.  Two of the squares are stamped in So Saffron with the polka dot stamp from the For All You Do set and the other two with Pear Pizzazz and the floral stamp from Clearly for You.  The latter set is from the new Occasions Mini Catalog.  It has lots of really cute little stamps.

I inked 2 of the birds with my Elegant Eggplant marker and the branch with Early Espresso.  The stamp, also from the Clearly for You set, has 3 birds.  I want to use this for an anniversary card so I only inked 2 of the birds.  No threesome here!  After I stamped those little birds on a piece of scrap, I cut them out.  I must be crazy!  What some of us will do for these cards!

I inked the love from the love you stamp in the Short & Sweet set with the Elegant Eggplant marker and stamped it on the other polka dot square.

The heart, punched from a scrap of Riding Hood Red, completes the colors.

It wasn't the quickest or easiest card I ever did, but I'm satisfied with the results.
