Metallic Watercolor on Black

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I had a zoom session with some friends a couple of weeks ago and we did a technique

I ended up doing the technique more than once and I'll share two of the cards today.

First up using this NBUS poinsettia stamp.  I've heat embossed it with gold
embossing powder and colored it in with my Altenew metallic watercolors.

I love the shimmer and shine!

I did learn that it would be easier to stamp the center sentiment when I stamp
the surrounding design.

Then I did something a little simpler....

I still need some work on splattering.

The larger dots are actually pieces of chunky glitter.  I wasn't able to capture the
shine in the photo.

This is a perfect technique for Christmas cards!

Challenges:

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Center Cut Holiday Floral (SSS)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Black Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah Natural, Gold Foil
Other:  Gold EP, Metallic Watercolors (Alt)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Christmas Tree (Honey Doo)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Black Mixed Media (Strathmore), Gold Foil, Neenah Natural
Other:  Gold EP, Metallic Watercolors (Alt)

Enjoy!

Oh my gosh Bonnie! You and Loll have certainly knocked your metallic Christmas cards out of the park! They are absolutely gorgeous!!!! I have the stamp for the second card you painted and when I made mine, I found it terribly hard to keep the paint in the little tear drop shapes. After seeing your card I should give it another go. I really like the green. Seems like I did mine all in silver. I also love the splatters. Merry, Merry Christmas Bonnie. You have put me in the mood to make jolly!

That does it! After seeing your gorgeous cards, and Loll's, I'm getting my metallic watercolors out today. Now to decide what stamp to use. Your choices were wonderful, Bonnie. I'll say it again - gorgeous.

I think these are both so bright and pretty Bonnie, and they are beautifully seasonal with the wonderful poinsettias and then the gorgeous tree on the second which is my favourite. x

I've been so drawn to gorgeous pieces like yours that I finally got some black watercolor paper. Now I wonder when I'll get to it. You've done beautiful work. The poinsettia stamp is gorgeous, and I really love the stylized tree. Just wow, Bonnie!

These are stunning Bonnie - I love the effect of metallic paints on black. I recently found that using a fan brush gave me better splatters.
Thanks for the link to the tutorial
