Iris Hugs

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm getting Inky with Darnell this morning.

The irises blooming in our neighbors yard inspired me to get out this Iris stamp
from Altenew and have a play.

I inked the stamp with Tombow markers, spritzed and stamped onto Mixed Media paper,
then blended the ink with a damp brush.

After it dried, I used a clean, wet brush and dragged it over some of the petals to
remove some of the color.  I got some bleeding, but I liked the effect so I left it alone.

I wanted a loose watercolor look so I wet the area around the flowers touching the edges
and blending out.  A few splatters finished it off.

Challenges:
Color Hues #86 - Lilac and Lime
Darnell's I.D.E.A.S. - Ink/Color Mediums
Double D - Inspired by purple violets (top right)
The Flower Challenge #91 - Colour Your Flower (watercolored)

Card Recipe

Ink:   Gorgeous Grape, Tombow Markers (636, 126, 177)
Paper:   Mixed Media, Gorgeous Grape, Neenah Solar White

Enjoy!

Such a lovely dynamic image Bonnie and I love your loose watercolouring and that grounding strip of darker purple on the side of the card. Thank you for coming to play with us at The Flower Challenge! Vicky x

How many of my comments start with 'OH, Bonnie!'? Here's another: OH, BONNIE!! This is just the most beautiful start to my day! I do love purple Irises! Your inky spritzing has given these the most wonderful water-colored look!
Your special friend is going to gasp when opening this envelope!

A wonderful look for these beautiful flowers. I just saw some of these in my son's yard but I think yours have a more ethereal look brought out by your coloring. I always forget about this way of water color and you nailed it.

Bonnie, I'm not sure what I can add to the accolades you've received, but I'll try: your loosely watercoloured irises are gorgeous. Ethereal, dreamy, stunning: a work of art. I hope the special friend receiving this will place it in a frame. Thank you for sharing your artistry at Colour Hues.
