Yellow Poppy for CAS Watercolour

Hello friends.  It's time for a new challenge at
CAS Watercolour

Our dear Loll is hosting this challenge

I have a lot quite a few poppy stamps.

I don't think I'd inked this one up before.  I found it very easy to color.
The shading is already there.

I put it in my MISTI and inked it with Mustard Seed Distress Ink,
stamped it and pulled the color from the stamping to the centers of the petals.

Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade spiced up the shaded areas.
I smooshed some in on my palette and used my waterbrush to pick up the ink and add
to the shaded places until I was happy with the color.

I like to start light and add more color.
That's easier than trying to take the color out!

The background was done with wet on wet technique and re-inkers.

Our talented Design Team along with this month's fabulous Guest Designer, Rachel
have some wonderful inspiration for you.  It's going to be a beautiful gallery at
CAS Watercolour this month!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

SOOOOOOO pretty Bonnie! Love the colors you used and how much shading you added...totally looks like a photograph of the real thing! And I just love your softly colored background...you are always so good at that and I always chicken out, afraid that I'll ruin what I already colored! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)

Love the tones of colour in your beautiful poppy! It makes me think of some of the California poppies that grow in a sunny hot area of my garden.

Wow, this is sooo pretty, Bonnie! I love the colors you chose. And the stamens are beautifully added. (It was difficult for me to add black only in the center.)
The wet-on-wet background is so beautiful and impressionistic.

WOW! Your work with watercolors is stunning, Bonnie. I love the color you chose for your poppy. It looks beautiful, and the background blue emphasizes its color even more. Yes, the background looks like the sky, very realistically ...
