More Faux Cloisonné for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Just a reminder that there's still time to join in at

My mixed media are Faux Cloisonné, Stamping and Die Cutting

where Susan has challenged us to do a Faux Cloisonné mixed media technique.

I found a tiny portion of a magazine page and a stamp with some detail, but
not a lot.  After stamping the butterfly over the design, I heat embossed in gold
and fussy cut.  I also stamped the butterfly on a piece of vellum and cut it out to
mount the cloisonné piece to for extra body.  (In hindsight, I should have used
a scrap of cardstock as the vellum wants to curl.

Here's a view that shows the shine of the embossing.

There are tutorials at the challenge site as well as wonderful inspiration from
our talented Design Team.

I hope you'll give this technique a try and join us at

Card Recipe

This is a beautiful butterfly Bonnie, and the white background leaves and pierced mat are the perfect background leaving the shiny patterned faux cloisonne to stand out. I love the blue stamped sentiment too which goes so well with the colours in the butterfly and finishes it perfectly. x

Your butterfly looks fabulous, I also found that magazine pages can be very flimsy so some support helps. I love the colours on this, just lovely xx

Beautiful butterfly showcasing the faux cloisonné technique. The gold looks gorgeous from your photo, so it must be even more amazing IRL.

Your butterfly looks like it would be a great brooch...the embossing looks gorgeous. The diecut looks as though the critter just flew in to rest on it.

Oh Bonnie, this butterfly is so gorgeous-you picked a great magazine page with lots of color for sure and this butterfly looks amazing in all those gorgeous colors coming through the embossing. I love that you used the vellum, the curls make the butterfly look like it could just fly right off the card! I think that is a happy accident, give the butterfly "body, life". Love this card! Hugs, Brenda
