Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
It's time for a new challenge at Color Hues.
This time sweet Marcia chose these colors for us to use.
I think I got carried away from my usual CAS style.
Sometimes it's fun to try something different.
First I stamped the irises with Antique Linen Distress ink so I could see where I
wanted to color. Then I used my Arteza markers to ink the blooms and stems and used
a damp waterbrush to pull the color into the flowers. I used a combination of markers
direct to paper and swiped on a palette to add shading.
When the coloring was finished and dry, I die cut the piece and added it to a thin
border of yellow and placed on a piece of decorative paper with a light linen print.
You can see a bit of the pattern in the top left corner.
The thin frame was cut twice and I offset them for added interest.
Finally I added some watercolor to a scrap of mixed media and cut the butterflies.
My super talented teammates are sure to inspire you with their fantastic creations
and we are joined this month by my dear friend and equally talented, Nance.
I hope you'll check us out and join in at Color Hues.
The challenge ends May 14th at 9:00 AM EDT.

Perfection, Bonnie! Gorgeous watercolored irises and a lovely design. You have layers and details yet deliciously uncluttered. I love that you used the DP for back up. Its delicate pattern will never interfere. Of course, the colors, sigh... So beautiful!

I got a phone call and not sure if I finished my comment. LOL Well, here let me try again. I am not good at trying new things, but you certainly are, Bonnie and might I add with great success. This is lovely and the thin frame was a nice touch. Have a good weekend.
Lovely irises and the framing is an eye-catching touch! As always, dazzled by your ingenuity and creativity.

Your watercoloured iris are so soft and pretty Bonnie. I love iris and have some really dark plum with an orange throat ones called Coal Ignition as well as some soft powder blue ones like these. I split them last year so fingers crossed they flower this! :)
My irises are just beginning to bloom here. Yours painted ones are fabulous. Love the artsy look with the diamonds and even that background paper is perfect.
