Christmas Poinsettia

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been busy getting a class together, but found a little bit of time to try
this new to me die.  It was a free gift with a recent order.
It looks like it's been discontinued and sold out.
I see that there are others that are similar available.

On the package it said to ink the die and cut it.

It made wonderful veining that took the watercolor beautifully.

It's doubled up because my first try with splatters was a mess.
It wouldn't have been so bad, but I got my fingers in the inky splatters. Ugh!

I'm going to try this technique with some of my other dies that have this wonderful detail.

ABC Christmas - Off to One Side
CAS Christmas - Poinsettia
The Flower Challenge - Add Spots or Stripes
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff (Poinsettia)

Gorgeous poinsettia, Bonnie, and I love it atop the embossed panel. Your cherry cobbler strip looks like velvet - so beautiful behind the flower!!

I must be slow. How do you watercolor on a die? Did you watercolor the paper, then use an ink pad on the raised surfaces of the die? Still don't understand the splatters.
Can you help me?
Thanks. Love your card.

What a beautiful card Bonnie, I've never inked up a die before. Must give that a try when I can get crafty again. Your poinsettia looks amazing, loving the white splatters. The embossing is beautiful and love how you did the ribbon and sentiment. Hugs, Brenda

How I love all the dimension on this one, Bonnie. That poinsettia is gorgeous against the white, embossed background! Each time I see one of your cards I wonder why I never think to pull out those folders. This is so well done.

Beautiful card Bonnie. That inked die is wonderful and I like the way you have only emboss the bottom half of your card. Thanks for playing along with Christmas Craft Creations. X

Gorgeous layered poinsettia Bonnie. The embossing gives it to much visual texture and the watercolouring picks up on the embossing. Love your card with the leafy embossing ... more texture! xx

Gorgeous poinsettia card, Bonnie! Yes, the veining is just wonderful! I'll remember this technique (ink a die, and cut)! Your watercoloring is as beautiful as ever. Love the wonderful design with the color-matching ribbon for the sentiment, and the embossed background only below the ribbon. So happy to see your card in the CAS Christmas gallery!

p.s. I hope you had a wonderful birthday!

I don't know which I love more, Bonnie, that wonderful embossing folder or the gorgeous die cut poinsettia. I just ordered a poinsettia die and I think I'll try inking it before cutting. I hope it works as well as yours did.
