Folk Art Hearts

Here's another card using the sketch from Less is More this week.  I really love this sketch!

The Queen last week at SCS was ravengirl (Toni) and I didn't have go far into her gallery to find a card.  I chose this one to CASE.  I wish I had time to CASE more.  She's been a favorite of mine for a long time.

The hearts are stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White. I used my Stamp-a-majig to determine the layout. After stamping, I threaded a big eyed needle with linen thread and connected the hearts with it. I ran a length up the back so I would have two ends to tie a bow with.

The design in layered onto Cherry Cobbler and the card base is Naturals White. The sentiment is also stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

We've all been battling a respiratory virus at our house.  I have completely lost my voice.  The boys think it's really cool that I whisper to them.  They both give me the sweetest smiles when I try to talk.

Spring Singer

I love bluebirds. We have had a pair of them in the back yard. Come to think of it, I haven't seen them lately. Maybe they went some place cooler. I really don't blame them!
Mr. Bluebird was left over from my watercoloring tries. I thought he would fit well with the CAS challenge this week. This week is a sketch challenge of a card by Diane aka Fionna51.

I turned the card and used cardstock embossed with the Square Lattice Folder & the BIG GUY instead of DSP. I thought the bluebird would be perfect in an oval so I changed the shape of the main design too.

Color Challenge Blushing Coral Rubies

Here is my card for this week's Color Challenge to use Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral and Ruby Red with Vanilla or White. The dessert option is Close to Cocoa or Creamy Caramel. All these colors (except Vanilla & White) are going to retire on June 30th. Sadly, the Blush & Coral are some of my favorites. I'll just have to stock up now, before they are gone for good.

You might want to check a few posts back if you haven't seen the retiring colors in case you need some cardstock or reinkers before they are gone.

I made 2 cards and can't decide which I like the best. Maybe you can help me decide.

With this card I used the dessert option and put a peek-a-boo layer of Close to Cocoa under the design. It really just shows through the punching. I used Ruby Red as the back mat with a Blush Blossom card.

I skipped dessert on this card. (Wish I was so willing to skip dessert IRL, LOL.) I used the Cameo Coral between the design and the Ruby Red Mat. I like the Coral so I let it hang out. The layout of the flowers is a little different too.

Did you notice that I popped up one flower? On this card I had to hide a mistake.

This is one of the sets that is 20% off this month. I really love this set! In fact, I almost love it as much as the Heartfelt Thanks that retired last year. It gives the same effect with the 2 steps for each flower and with the clear mount, it's much easier to match up the stamping without the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

I really like this color combo too. I wouldn't have guessed that the Cameo Coral & Ruby Red would be so perfect together.

Another combination that works with this stamp is Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry. I'll show you that card later.

Easter Basket

This card was for the CAS Challenge this week to make a square card. As a rule I don't make square cards because they take extra postage. I did see a hint that they can be put in a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" envelope and sent for regular postage. The envelope can be lined with coordinating paper and the lining adhered together on the ends so the card doesn't slip and slide. I will probably hand deliver this one anyway. I would hate for the Post Office to scrunch my bow!


The basket is made from a Top Note cut with the Big Shot Machine. I cut it in half and adhered it on the bottom with the back piece a tad higher than the front. I cut a strip from the leftovers for the handle. The eggs were cut from Decorative Paper with the Oval Die (it has 3 sizes) and the Wide Oval Punch. I put the eggs in the basket with dimensionals so it would have some depth. Sorry the picture isn't better.

Yummy Bird

This weeks CAS challenge is to visit a Candy Crate's Retro Candy Store and make a card representing the candy of our choice. The soft brown of this card looks like chocolate Necco Wafers to me. Almost makes my mouth water, and the memories..... I remember going to the movies and having a nickel left for candy. (Does that date me or what? LOL) I loved to get the Necco Wafers because they lasted through the whole movie, unless my brother convinced me to share. My favorite ones were the chocolate and I can remember looking at all the packages to check for the one that had the most chocolate. I liked the yellow and pink too, but not as much as the chocolate. OK, enough down memory lane.

We did a card very similar in the Stamp A Stack on Saturday. I jazzed this one up a bit by adding some color instead of just the neutrals. I like the neutrals too, especially for sympathy cards. (You can see the other one further down on my blog in the Stamp A Stack post.) I love the little scalloped pieces called Hugs. I especially love that they come already scalloped so I don't have to punch them out! They and the ribbon are in the Occasions Mini Catalog on p. 19 & 27.

Creative Arts Class

Since we are new to the area, I joined the Cary Newcomers Club. It's a great club with lots of interest group meetings throughout the month. One of the interest groups is Creative Arts and I jumped into that one. I have really enjoyed meeting these creative ladies and look forward to seeing lots of them in the future. I am hosting the group this month and this is what we are going to do....

I hope they like them. I've got to start cutting them out so I will have to share the details with you later. Remind me if I forget.
