Spring Flowers for CAS Watercolour

Hi there.  I'm so glad you could visit today!

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Watercolour where
our very talented Jenny has chosen this for our challenge.

I stamped my piece of vellum with a NBUS set, Even More Spring Flowers,
and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.

I taped the piece down and watercolored on the back side with
Distress Stains and a slightly barely damp brush.

After the ink dried, I went back in with a darker color on the petals to
add some depth of color.  I used the same color on the leaves, just adding
the second layer in spots.

When it was all dry, I adhered it behind a die cut frame and
popped the whole piece on some foam.

Jenny has found some tutorials for using watercolor on vellum.
They are at the challenge site.

We have two Guest Designers this month, Birgit and Ros, who
have some fabulous inspiration for you.  And as always, our Design Team
also have gorgeous designs to share.

Hope to see you at CAS Watercolour!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Eep, I love your NBUS flowers, Bon-Bon! They look exquisite watercolored on vellum! I'm loving this challenge for the stunning designs, but also for seeing the clever ways you ladies are attaching your vellum; always a bugaboo for me. I really like how you have yours showing through the large square opening. Hugs, Dolly

Just as lovely as can be. I love the shading with the markers and the white embossing powder that adds so much detail to the flowers and leaves. Framing it looks like a picture that should be displayed in a frame on an end table.

Beautiful! Love the flowers and the way you framed them. I wasn't sure if I should colour from the back or the front - so interested to see how yours turned out, colouring from the back.

What a lovely card, Bonnie! You watercolored the flowers and leaves so beautifully and your vellum doesn't have any warps!! Love the combination of the warm red and deep green with the white heat-embossed outlines. The sentiment in Old Olive is refreshing and ties with the leaves.

LOVE your beautifully watercolour flowers and leaves Bonnie. I had not thought about watercolouring on the back of the vellum. It looks amazing and is also protected. Wonderful design with the stitched square aperturen that matches the stitched flowers and leaves. xx

This is stunning Bonnie! I love those blooms and you have colored them up so well on that vellum. I haven't colored on vellum or painted on vellum in a very long time. I forgot how beautiful it is, especially when you do it! Beautiful, oh so beautiful! Hugs Brenda

The stitched square aperture has framed those beautifully coloured flowers brilliantly Bonnie, and using minimal water has worked and not made any warping. I love the sentiment too. x
